DPS 2 has some real problems IMO. The main one is Global Lighting, which is a series of color filters that can really mess with how things look. They look really good with the custom assets of DPS, but virtually nothing else. There is no possible way to turn it off that I've seen so far, and one of the best asset groups on the workshop have decided to go elsewhere for that reason. You start with a Ground layer that you also can't get rid of, only change, which makes certain types of maps hard to make and makes my personal style of mapmaking almost impossible. It has some really cool, innovative and amazing tools, but some stuff is currently just forced on you right now. Hopefully you'll be able to remove things and have more freedom later, but right now that isn't that case.
DPS 1 is accessable through the menu for DPS 2 by going to Legacy Version, but I honestly don't know if that will be supported in the future. While it's here though, its honestly a great tool.
