I much prefer having a huge blank base and adding the background textures myself instead of having to choose 2 and making everything that.
I also hate the new export a lot since it just makes a huge image, when in the old one you could make it the size you ACTUALLY need it at right off the bat.
It's DPS2 but it feels more like DPS 0.5 cause it feels so much clunkier, unintuitive and a step back from what it was before..
I would, however, like the program to retain some way of doing minimalist dungeon maps. I make a lot of maps and prototypes with the old-school blue and white dungeon tiles. I've used DPS a ton to bust out these maps and it would be shame if it stopped being possible.
I have a stupid question: What's the price/release model for DPS2. DPS is kinda on-finished software, so does that mean DPS owners will get DP2 as the 'finished' version. Or is this a new purchase (which I'll admit, I'm not sure I'd go for.)
I own DPS, and I have access to (I believe) the full version of DPS2. Now, I am not sure if that will change in the future or not, and if it doesn't I recommend holding off. The free assets made by the community are amazing. Also, I agree that DPS2 has a lot of good things going for it. However, when making custom maps with a specific idea in mind I am able to create it in half the time than in DPS2. For example I was trying to create a forest the other day and in DPS2 it was very easy to get a floor I liked and to get trees on the map. However, I had to play and play with the setting to get the spacing just right. Whereas in DPS I could just plant the trees where I wanted them without any issue, and it was much quicker.
Again, I have high hopes for this program. But I still think it has a long long ways to go.
I agree to some degree. I keep changing between the DPS' so that I can play around in both. DPS2 I think has greater potiental than DPS, but atm it does feel like a step backwards. HOWEVER, this could be fixed if there was a good, detailed video going over ALL the functions in great detail to help users completely understand how to use the product.
I also think there needs to be some clear instructions on how to export and import all the different assets people might have. And have a quicker way for people to check if all their subscribed mods have been transferred over as well.
I think you can do something like that in DPS1. You just have to find the right stuff. and you may have to use the stuff from other places after you export the file.
