this is a problem that goes back to 2017 when it launched. if you read through the message boards. if you know something i dont id be glad to eat crow and admit im wrong but after reading this same issue hitting dozens of people and no follow up from the developer i think its garbage.
venting my frustrations will be canceling my 2 preorders here and buying them at epic games in protest
I cant save any files. tell me know to work around that problem. several message board posts compain about the same error code. its the 4th result when i google the program. polish is adding higher resolution textures, im telling you that a fundamental part of the program doesnt work for me and apparently many other people and its been a reported issue since the program first released in 2017
thank you for the advice. do either have many assets useful for event maps, modern tiles? my campaign is set in modern day, googlemaps and paintbrush is fine for an over map. what i needed from this was the ability to create battlemaps in warehouses, industrial settings, bars, ect
The basic assets for DPS do not have modern day assets, however if you look at the steam workshop, you can install community made asset packs that contain what you are looking for. Im sorry you didnt have a good experience with this app. I myself find myself frustrated at times. But when you really dig your teeth into it, you can create beautiful maps.
who cares if you can create nice maps if they wont save? my question was to maddawg regarding dungeon draft.
DPS is completly useless to me as i can not save anything. ive contacted customer support with no reply, contacted people who reported the issue years ago who never got it to work. the only reason i started this discussion was to warn any potential buyers away.
if you bought GTA5 and had to start a new game every time you opened it would you be happy? its not just frustrating, its outright unusable
We could, ignore the bugs, crashes, because well, it was the initial release.
It's beeing years. I think i bought this around release date, and going full honest?
It's beeing so long without substancial updates, real fixes, that the program just got left behind compared the competition.
Dungeondraft is superior in every tool, Dungeonfog is superior in every tool.
Frak, i haven't tested yet but i've heard a LOT of good things about Inkarnate battle map making.
Unless the supposed "New Update" that have beeing announced, really change the software, sincerely i would just stay out if this one.
It's sad, because when it first released, the potential was great! But, lack of updates and fixes kill a software like that.
BUT: Dungeon Draft has the far better UI, You can use a light source (if you use a VTT with good dynamic lightning, you sadly have no use for it) and the best tool in my opinion is the path tool.
Sadly you are limited to four Textures on your map and some tools only work with the build in rubbish textures.
So, I really hope, that the update for DPS is on the way. If every promise comes true, it will be far more better than Dungeon Draft.
PS: I am no native speaker. Sorry, if my language is not perfect!
My issue with DPS:
- It becomes laggy when you use many brushes.
- It does not have dungeondraft's native assets.
My issues with Dungeondraft:
- I hate the shadows. The wall and object shadows are ugly and overlap in ways I do not want them to. DPS effect system is many times better.
- It crashes. A lot.
- You cannot draw terrain over objects or floors. Why not?! I want that my half-buried ruin has dirt on the tiles. DPS allows this. Dungeondraft does not.
it would be so easy to fix this. in software like gimp you can combine all parts of a layer to one layer and makes basically a jpg out of it. Brushes are normaly used for the groundwork anyway, so you could do your "foundation", make a jpg out of it and begin after it to place your assets on it without any lag
But then you cannot edit the ground anymore, and that sucks.
