(1) You could make a feature request for this - the author (Pyro) does consider requests that have merit/value.
(2) Create a default map to be used as a template. You can enable "Allow Half" which allows the application to snap to half squares, enabling an easy snap to centre of a square
(3) You could also create a texture with the dot in the centre of a 200px square grid. Ensure the background is transparent (save as PNG). This should have the same effect.
Ensure that texture/effect is at the top most level in the Layers list.
Is it usable yes - is it perfect, no, could it be better yes. But it is usable.
I know this was a whole year, and more ago but I am hoping you can help me. In DPS can you paint a grid on a specific area? I have a map that I obtained from someones patreon, and while it is beautiful it is also problematic. The floor/sconces/walls are a little difficult to distinguish from each other because of the (Beautiful) color palate and design. I am hoping to add grid only to the spaces that the players can walk on, and not on any non-walkable surfaces.
Is there a way to do that in DPS? Or in any other program frankly. I would appreciate the help!
Unfortunately, it is not possible to apply a grid to only part of your map in the current version. The grid functions as an overlay that you put over your entire map. You can tweak the colour of the lines of your grid and their transparency, but unfortunately, the grid works only in a "all or nothing" mode.
It may be possible to create a grid as a png and import it into DPS as a layer, as described by = WEMO = above. With your own grid as a png, you could put that over those parts of your map that need a grid. That is a bit tricky, though.
Maybe a feature like this will be included in the upcoming version of DPS, but as far as I know, there has been no announcement about partial grids in DPS2.
