DPS is best for dungeons but can do over world map. I think its best use is for making dungeons in a easy and easy manner while still providing lots of flexibility. It works like most modern program where you click what you want and it just happens and puts the thing right on the grid. For dungeon maps, DPS can take in a Donjon map (https://donjon.bin.sh/pathfinder/dungeon/) and can import it into the program so you can quickly make a map and tweak it and customize how it looks.
CC3+ is expensive and a pain in the ass to work with. I've used it a couple of times but I do not enjoy using the program. You will have to put effort and follow the directions just to get started. I have not put the effort into the program because I find it frusrating and non-intuivitive to use. Because it is such a flexible program It is good for regional maps and entire globes. (and more if you spend even more money. It has a dungeon add-on, city add-on. I consider these add-ons not as good as the main program.).
Other options that are available. If you have Photoshop or access to it (library?) then you can google/bing "fantasy map photoshop brushes" or something like that. There are a number of free ones available on Deviant Art that look similar to Tolkien's maps from Lord of the Rings.
https://inkarnate.com/ is another highly mentioned site. I find the maps to look generic. I have not personally used it. It is used for overland maps (mainly world maps)
