I need to start farming some of the other cards to boost levels of the existing ones I have. I need duplicates so badly... I do not want to spend money on the game, just to see how far you can actually go.
You are spot on, in that 20+ islands start to focus on specific combos, and you need to get a very powerful first-slot combo to defeat them, or they run all over you. My deck is now all double-fused blues and some (8) purples, with one of my purples being single-fused. This is after 6 weeks of play (started when Steam started). But still, if I don't get a killer combo right off the bat, these high islands will murder me.
Us Steam players are at an even bigger disadvantage than you think. Prior to the Steam release, islands could be farmed over and over for more and more cards, and they were always the same ones in the same locations. This made it possible for players to farm for a deck full of specific combos, like 13 Peggy's + 13 Rifles. From what I read about the odds, if that opportunity was available to me, I could have a deck with at least 6 double-fused peggys and 6 double-fused rifles right now, and that would provide a clear advantage. But the devs considered that too powerful and too boring, so they nerfed the ability to farm that way.... but older f2p players still have decks like that.
I'm still having fun though. Enough so that I spent a little bit of money (VIP for 1 month + adventure boost + research boost for $30, which IMO is a bit too much to spend on a cheap game like this), even though I suspect that once I finally hit arena rank 15 and enter Super Fight Club, and start fighting the ultra-nasty decks, I'll probably quit for good. But good fun up until then.
I am mostly the same. I lucked out and I have over the two months that I have been playing, I had a two Bender drops and a Roger. I am excluding myself from what I wrote above as I am mostly using the "Stan, Leela, and Peggy" cards and they are all double fused and maxed out and that is the majority of what my characters are and I did luck out to get two copies of "Blernsball" and I use the Wheel and Wrestling as my "extra" cards.
I focus the best that I could do in elemenating their first cards ASAP so I have mostly Punch abiliity cards with whatever I can and have the Hamburger and/or Cripple as a secondary. But yeah, this is the deck that I have that wins for me at least.
But to be fair, if you can take it out before Peggy can have a turn or two to build herself up, both Bob and Leela beats her with a few cards, one of them being Blurnsball.
Characters with a HIGH number of Punch and/or Jab helps there. But it isn't just you, I hated those types of levels and I flat out avoided them until I got a bunch of Legendary cards through playing. But to be honest with you, I hurried up to beat the game (no ending so don't expect much) BUT when I want 'turds', I refight that set over and over again it does get much harder from here.

Something tells me it is going to take me a bit before I manage my first win versing him.. I didn't even start the round with my best cards for my combos either, even if i did, I think it's going to be tough to win lol.
Also, my deck and even against my original strategy is sort of a 'round robin' type of deck where it doesn't focus on one theme like Sport or Alcohol but has a bit of everything combined in. Now that my characters are quite high up there, I am focusing on a theme with time but this is taking a LOT of time to work on.
To help though, past level 16 in the arena and when you are in the "Super Arena mode" money will become far quicker to get and you don't loose XP, only ranking on a loss so loosings not that bad there. But with the 10 daily rounds there, I win between 3-5 rounds and I still clear over 10,000 coins a day there. I just wish the shop selled more than just commons and a green card lately.

Even knowing the picture shows it, island 29 and 30 aren't completely Onix-ed yet, I have yet to finish those rounds.

Arena
14~ 9084 / 14300... I still have a bit to go in the Arena hehe
Deck wise I have.. 18 futurama cards with the rest being a mix of others
16- Legendarys with only 1 fused the once
13- Epics with most of those being double fused
4- Rares All double fused
2- Commons Double fused
Started with Leela to build a futurama deck but ofcorse with the RNG you need to go with the flow and build around with what you get lol
I want to remove the commons and rares for epics but to keep them as futuramas since I am going with a futurama, If I was to swap them for non futurama cards them my deck wouldnt really be futurama based deck any more in my mind hehe
Been playing every day so far since it hit steam and have only put about $55-ish into it, subed for a month to build up my gems, bought the research accelarator along with watts 2-3 times since i wasnt getting enough from normal gamplay
Thank you, I was starting to think that I was the only main Futurama guy who played that I knew anything about. I lucked out in my 400+ hours playing to get four Benders but to be honest, I bought two Fry's and fused them. I also like the Leela and Amy Epic cards added in and I do quite well.
Sadly, I think Family guy is a bit overpowered as my wife does that set and even knowing she isn't as good as am in deck building, her 2x Peter and 2x Chris does far better than it probably should. And yes I know that Peter is a Drunk card and we were in drunk but I'm just saying.
I'm still better than her, but she is right behind me but her deck has far less organization and comboing power than mine does. ...but every deck builder feels that way. I"m still happy with Futurama being my primary though and I still think it is the better of the five shows with American Dad the only thing close but still a bit away from it.

My Futurama Deck[cartoon-battle.cards]
If you have any ideas on how I could change it up a bit let me know since you are trying to stick with Futurama as well..
With that, I would like to see what you are rolling with at the moment, if you have a spare few moments could you please share deck so I can compare yours with mine.
