How the heck are Arena scores so high?
The new Brawl started 11 hours ago, and currently the highest score is at 88,231. Unless theres a way others are getting more, the max I get is 150 per fight, which means I would need 588 fights to match the top player. I did a quick estimate, and I would have to use an entire months worth of the Arena Refills from the loot crates just to equal those scores.

... and these scores will easily go up by the same amount for the next few days too. I seem to recall scores from the last Brawl were 400k or higher.

So either people are saving up six months worth of arena refills in the hopes of ranking high ONCE in Arena Brawl, or something is smelling a little fishy here.

Whats worse, those 588 fights in the arena? If you had a top notch deck it would still take you 6 hours just to click through them all on auto-play, but most fights would be against other top-notch decks, right? Now that fishy smell is starting to rot.

... unless theres some other way to jack up the score that I'm unaware of?

You can purchase Arena refills.

How? They aren't listed in the ingame client.
When you are empty on Arena fights if you click on the Fight button again, it will give you the option to refresh your stamina using gems.

Oh, that isn't what I thought you meant. I was referring to those beer bottles you get from crates that give +5 or +10 arena refills. I knew you could refresh for 100 gems, but I seriously doubt that a couple hundred people are spending 6000 gems a day (equal to about $60) on Brawl.

Your userbase can't be THAT dumb....

$60 is nothing, people spend $1000s a day on mobile games.

Whales is the term. It's how companies can afford to release games as "free to play" - a small group of players pay bucketloads of money.

btw if you win in sfc you get about 400 brawl points, not just 150 ... meaning you are far away from the endgame so why do you want to compare yourself to the top players?
AvatarOfWar Jun 10, 2017 @ 12:59pm
Who said I was comparing myself to them? I was asking for info I was lacking on how its possible, which you just gave me: they get triple or more brawl points, which easily explains peoples scores: 400 points times 12 daily is 4800, and if each day you earn enough arena refills for 20 brawls, thats only 4 days of refills that is needed to be spent on the first day, and maybe two weeks worth maximum to keep your score high and shoot for the leaderboards.

That also matches with what I was seeing. I was seeing high leaderboard scores, but it was always different people, not the same people over and over. That fits in just right with people using their saved-up arena refills for a shot at high leaderboards, and thus mythics.

Whales aren't really as common as most people here seem to think. Most freemium games earn 90% of their money from newbies in their first two weeks of play. I wouldn't be surprised if there was less than 100 Whales playing this (out of, I'm guessing, 50k people playing daily?)

Since you are the developer, I am sorry to interrupt this conversation but may I politely ask if the "Hyper Arena" achievements are broken or what exactly do you need to do to get them? I am asking as I have almost certainly passed there and even after checking others, nobody else tends to have it either.

They seem to be broken - the team is trying to find out if this is something they can resolve.

In that case and with your permission. Would it be okay to use the "Steam Achievement Manager" to 'grant' yourself the achievements then if you clearly did earn them and still wish to be complete and an honest player in the process?

I have a friend who has spent somewhere around the order of $4,000 - $5,000 on League of Legends.

He just likes the game, and has to have the skins.

Players like that are why companies do it. I /agree with "Whales" that's what they are.

A person will put money into something if they feel they get some sort of enjoyment out of it. That's business. Make something someone enjoys and they'll spend money on it at some point.
Bud Jun 18, 2017 @ 11:18pm
I will be honest, if you like a game - you should pay something for it but $1,000...or even $100s spent is a bit much.

But what is about midrange, as where my wife and I are is at around $20-40 total dollars with maybe $10 a month. In the end, to just play for absolutely free is either flat out wrong or you are trying to play the game for free. If that is the case, you shouldn't really care as much is all but to people who paid around a full game price for this game ($20-40 dollar range) ...energy shouldn't be a problem as card trading is out and some people truly would like to play for a longer time without having a constant and annoying hold time.

As someone in the SFC ranks, I can verify that you get more points per win the higher you get. My guild leader is usually ranked top 10 in Arena, and he gets waaaay more than double I do of coins, event points, and epic stones (I get around 480-500+ event points per win and 2000+ coins per win in 1700/1800 SFC rating area).
