Car Alarm, heater, etc...

Can't I implement car alarm, heater, etc in the basic production line or does it have to be on specific stations?

There are at most 3 levels of slots.
The game starts off with level 1 slots and as you prgress, you can research and unlock additional levels of slots.

Example. CAR ALARM
FIT BODY is on tier 1 and you cannot upgrade it to install a CAR ALARM.
You then need to research BODY SPECIALIZATION to unlock the tier 2 slots followed by DOOR SPECIALIZATION to unlock the tier 3 production slot.

FIT DOORS is on tier 2 will not have the CAR ALARM upgrade.
FIT DOOR PANELS on tier 3 will have the CAR ALARM upgrade.

So to answer your question. Specific slots have specific upgrades. the more you research and unlock these Processes (for production slots, efficiency, etc) and Technologies (for vehicle features) the more advanced your production becomes, allowing for the addition of items such as a car alarm.

Thanks. I do undertsand how the research works and all that. My point is, do I need a specific assembly station for the car alarm, for instance, or should the basic fit electronics station be able to install it in my models.

The CAR ALARM upgrade can only be installed on the FIT DOOR PANELS slot.

Yes i eventually figured it out. I missed the research of that specific assembly station.
