Reduce Component Costs?

Greetings:

Is there any way to reduce component prices other than making components in-house. My feeling is that my costs are spiraling higher but the time it is going to take to research the many "Make X" techs and then the cost to build them on new factory space seems very high. Am I missing a way to be better at managing expenses? Thx in advance.

Open up the "Show Factory Effeciency Statistics" graph, then click on "components". Then click on "consumed" and check out what you are using the most of. Try researching only the top one or two to make the compenents for in house. After that it's a matter of placement, stockpiles, and telling your stuff to prefer local or only take local components.

Making things in house does not work. If you make steering wheels, the factory will make heated and regular ones. At some point, all car modesl will require heated, as it'll be researched by all the rivals. The factory will jam with no way to use the regular steering wheels. All components that output both the regular and upgraded one will eventually break the game.

You can untick selection of upgraded part and it only makes normal wheel instead of heated and wise versa

Set stockpile item number to 0 and unneeded wheels go away
