Yeah - I just got this. It is inevitable if you keep slowly optimizing your factory - at least I think it is. I got this playing the hardest scenario (the bottom "tight" factory). This scenario is difficult even without trying to get any achievements - I failed 2 or 3 times before getting this far. I recommend playing a freeplay game and not really playing it (it's just a sandbox for infinite money). Research all the techs and layout a factory with everything unlocked, and compare them to the lower technology factory components, so you can plan how you'll expand everything eventually. I went for other car bodies very early, and then marketting (which I endded up not using at all, so that was a waste).
Also I never used high speed anything except for 2x robots. The real speed boost comes from unlocking the hgiher layouts and then doubling the slow modules (I even tripled my dryers for paint). Watch the flow, see what's getting hung up. Add storage and parts manufacturing in key places (I was just adding parts manufacturing to lower costs too). Add more purchasers. Mostly just remember that faster belts lower latency (which is good) but the most important part is looking at each module's time, and doubling up the once that are slowest.
Hopefully this helps.
If you research Quality so it becomes 3 nodes for "PLAN B": "Visual inspection", "Performance check" and "Emissions Check" -- those 3 nodes are the same time when combined: 1:51 + 1:39 + 1:30 = 5:00, but because you've split the process up, any cars waiting in line for the 5:00 Quality Check have less time to wait when they go to PLAN B.
But admittedly, you could skip the reseach and just create 3 Quality Check nodes instead and have close to the same result, but you'll pay a lot more.
You can cut out radiator and exhaust with electrics?
Let's pretend there was a "build a whole car" node, and it took exactly 60 minutes to process a whole car. That would give you the achievement if you had 50 of them in parallel. But the game doesn't give you that "build a whole car" node, instead it gives "build a 10th of a car" (or something like that) and you figure out which nodes you want to make parallel and which ones are fast enough to leave as a pinch point for all cars to go through.
