just saying as a general guide for a pc release of a FPS game there must be - video advanced graphics options / FOV slider / mouse sensitivity slider / key rebinding / VSYNC options / no HUD options if it is clustered !
no controls / mouse config present in demo / no FOV in demo / NO VSYNC in demo
i like that you can see your feet
that video static-granulation effect ( dont know how to call it ) its too strong - there should be a slider for it - hmmm it was more pronounced because the video reverted to 1920x1080 and stretched to my ultra wide screen - now tha its on ultra widescreen its less pronounced !
stoped the demo because its too dark to see !
one last note - Optimisation is bad at least for my system !
The game also performs pretty poorly on my 980ti. I'm getting drops well below 60 fps on ultra and even if I lower the settings, my frame rates dip under 60 fps quite a bit. From the looks of it, performance takes a huge hit when I approach any area where there is a lot of lighting.
I haven't really gotten that far, as I'm stuck at the generator where I have to scynchonize it by adjusting the shattered discs. I've got to be one of the worst when it comes to anything puzzle related, so if there is a good amount of these puzzles in this game, I'm afraid I won't get very far and will probably just give up - lol.
Other than that, this game oozes atmosphere, is actually kind of creepy, and the graphics are pretty impressive. If the gameplay is similar to Dead Space and the gameplay is there, I'm hoping that this will turn out to be the spiritual successor to Dead Space that EA never delivered for us.
Oh, and it looks like full controller support isn't working presently, at least with the 360 controller that I tried anyway.
Well, I'm not sure if the puzzle I'm stuck at qualifies as being complicated or it's just me being lame because I suck at puzzles. Lol. But yeah, I loathe puzzles and anything puzzle related, as they frustrate me to no end.
Oh, and devs - is the game locked at 60 fps? If so, do you have any intentions of unlocking it? I'm sure people who have high refresh rate monitors would appreciate it. :)
And for the generator where you have to press down the keyboard to rotate the discs, just a suggestion, but is there anyway you can make it so that the discs move when we hold down the keys on the keyboard? I find it extremely annoying that we have to constantly press down the keys in order to move the discs.
Because Hollow is not a typical FPS but more of a"first person horror" we want to focus on storytelling - which might be spoiled by the FOV settings - so it won't be implemented in final version neither.
If the puzzles will be too troublesome we will provide a little help (but let's not spoil it for others yet ;) )
There will be option for working gamma correction implemented soon :)
i get that you want the experience to lean more towards discovery and probably the horror element !
Of course, remember it is beta version and some options may be implemented in the future :) Let us know if you like the story (or more a teaser for the story ;) )
Subtitles are off key and in some cases absolutely wrong whether it's spelling or something the character didn't even say. The "[CHUCKLES]" subtitle while the character coughing his brains out in the intro gave me a good laugh though.
Melee animation seems abit clunky and very disorienting (If the disorientational part is intentional then you've hit the mark)
Magazines for the weapons are dropped when reloaded regardless of remaining ammo, possibly consider storing them in the players inventory but retain the remaining ammo in them. An example would be 2 mags, one has 20 rounds the other has 8. Reload 8 and put in mag 20 then if you reload mag 20 you swap to mag 8 etc.
Initial cutscene seemed a bit long, could be cut down a little bit but it's not too bad.
I'll post more as I progress, I'm currently stuck in the command room where you have to power on the terminal. I can't seem to find a way to turn on the power.
You see blinking red spot? Maybe you have to do something with it? Remember there is no Save! (intentional:-)
1. Every time I start the game, the Textures Quality option is always set to LOW
2. No option to choose resolution mode: Exclusive Fullscreen, Windowed or Borderless Fullscreen
3. No ability to toggle vsync off or on
4. By default, game is locked to UE's default 62FPS
5. No ability to configure controls (really? demo or not - you have no excuse here)
6. No mouse controls tweaking
7. No FOV slider
8. No audio settings
9. The video settings say "MSAA" for Anti-Aliasing yet the game apparently uses D3D11 rendered. I just want to make sure you named it properly and it is indeed MSAA and not what 99% of all UE4+ games use - post-processing blurry disgusting piece of youknowwhat.
10. Game saves setting in custom encoded config file to what purpose?
