Neither. I broke the game by day 17 with El Fuego and 4x Sonic Burst, 1x Dark Matter, 3x Fuel Canister. Looks like altitude does have a hard cap lol. The earnings are basically spot on capped every time. It goes so fast you get no collisions because you are so far off screen the debris doesn't get to generate in front of you. The whole flight lasts like 8 seconds.
