Thanks for wasting my time, devs
At the end I had to mix that last drink. I lined up the circle and arrow perfectly but nothing happened. There was a pill on the table so I guessed I had to put that in to make the game end. It closed the game and wiped my f-cking save. A warning would have been nice!

But... that's the point, you can't really save on this game. That ending means you start over.

What do you intend to do with a past save, if you can't even load checkpoints during a playthrough? It's not like I'm a fan of this system, but

The point of this save is so I can back it up on a separate drive and say I 'completed' it. That savegame is my mental 'completion trophy'. If it resets to clean slate every time, it's like I never finished the game. It drives me nuts.

Does the game do this even if you don't take the amnesia pill?

Well, there's an achievement for completing the game.

I'm sorry it it's a mental and personal thing, but idk, think that every Gamecube (for example) game will be like that if your memory card dies. Mine got its data deleted out of the blue and there wasn't any proof that I completed Wind Waker, but I know that I did, so nothing really changes lol

I haven't tried not taking the pill but probably it would take you to the end of the game until you do.

I've decided to quit the game before the end of the game (before you interact with the computer), back up the save file, and only then finish the game. Works for me.

We got a nice philosophical question here. People play video games as a way to enjoy their time. They could do many other "productive" things with their time, but they chose to spend it in an artificial world. So how do you justify spending your limited lifetime on that? Is it only worth it if after you finished the game, you are left with a trophy/memento/something? Or is it enough knowing you enjoyed your time?

Or is it plain OCD that compels you to collect saves ?

OCD. I can't feel like I 'completed' a game if I have no save file to prove it. Enough of this. I have no savegames and I'm satisified.
