You see the 3 letters under every button's number, so click on the numeric button that has that letter on it. (It's even simpler than texting on pre-touchscreen phones.)
So for example if, say, you needed to input a "D" you would click on the "3" button.
Thanks for your reply, but I still don't understand.
Of course I see the letters, but how do I switch to "alphabet" mode?
Let me further explain where I am:
When I click on the computer and try to access a certain file, it states: "I need to find out the security code first and input it on the phone to acess "NAME"'s file."
I then click on the phone, but all I can do is call someone. Do I have to enter the code somewhere else? Because I really see no way to enter a letters at this point.
What am I missing?
lol the irony is that you are too YOUNG. Dialing numbers/letters with a keypad dates back to the 1950s. You have it confused with the early versions of texting on a cell phone, which came around in the late 90s.
It's simplified for the game, but a puzzle of misdirection when you know how IRL numbers work on a phone keypad! :-/
Well, granted, I am not that old. However, the interface clearly imitates old mobilephones. Like, the number 2 also represents "ABC", the number 3 "DEF" etc.
If you wanted to write "BF" I would have expected to press "2" 2 times and "3" 3 times. However, the way it works in this game is by pressing "23". That is all. It is enough to select the correct set of letters and you do not have to enter the actual single letter. You have to spell a name but you don't need the letters of the name, just the correct set of letter for each letter in the name and the game just puzzles it together by itself.
Which I don't find quite intuitive to be honest.
Plus: I actually grew up with dial phone at my grandmas'. However, at least in Germany, there are no phone numbers with letters on them. You could not enter letters on a dial phone. We did not have that. And if the game asumes that everyone knows how you dial letters on dial phone in the US, than this is still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
If anyone wants, I can also give lectures on the value of a penny back in my day! *polishes dentures*
I actually still have a landline phone right next to me. So, I actually know how to use these. It just does not work that way in game. :D
