No part for repair, can't leave garage?

So I took a job to repair a car. It needs a muffler. I bought a new muffler. It looks a little different than the one that was on there but it fit. The car under repair has two mufflers and it doesn't match the other one in looks but has the same specs it seems. It keeps saying the car isn't repaired because the muffler needs replaced. That was the only muffler available that would go on the car and it says high performance like the car's other muffler. If it isn't a bug then I assume it wants one that looks identical to the other but there are none available in the paper.

So I thought maybe I could go drive around or race or something in my car to get the newspaper ads to refresh but it won't let me leave the garage until this car is repaired apparently. I don't know why, my mechanic keeps my car for weeks at a time in the real world.

It seems I have no choice but to say I can't repair the car at this time and take a loss on all I've spent on it. Is that right?

Thanks for reporting this. It's sounds like the parts you need is not in the newspaper, you should buy a new one. If this happens in the first car project, then the newspaper not only has it (after buying a new one) but also mark the one you need to buy. Just buy the right one and replace them both.

How do I buy a new part if the part I need is not listed in the newspaper?

there is a BIG button on the left bottom of the newspaper as "buy newspaper". Just click on it, then you should have a new newspaper, with new content... you should find it there once you clicked on that icon and the newspaper is refreshed with new content

First off--love this game, and very excited to try out the new patch.

Unfortunately, I've encountered several problems with the tutorial around needing to replace parts that I don't own. Because the newspaper button is disabled at certain points in the tutorial, I've found myself repeatedly unable to progress.

The first point came when adding an exhaust manifold to the V6. I was unable to progress because I lacked an appropriate manifold and the newspaper button was disabled. I worked-around this by replacing several other parts out-of-order (which I'd luckily bought in advance of being prompted), namely the air and oil filters. The newspaper unlocked and I was able to shop for an exhaust system.

Unfortunately, upon buying an appropriate manifold (for a V6 Walea, it had the blue star), I was unable to install the part due to an incompatible midpipe. So I attempted to access the newspaper, and buy a Y midpipe... but the newspaper was disabled, and I had no ability to advance. Eventually I simply removed the midpipe, which allowed me to install the manifold, but the game then steered me to starting the engine--obviously, not possible without an exhaust system.

Fortunately, all garage buttons seem to be unlocked temporarily on reloading the save, so I've been able to make 'small steps' of progress by restarting the game and performing one item off the checklist, and exiting once done--since all garage buttons get disabled after completing an 'out of order' action.

I understand the game may be overwhelming to new players (it was at first for me, years ago), but I've run into enough problems completing the first Project--still not done as of this writing--that I would highly recommend putting out a quick fix that re-enables garage buttons during the tutorial, at least until that sequence can be more extensively tested.

That said, I'm loving the new patch so far.

It's too difficult to get a golden result of 29.5s. I made this rally car. The game freezes when restarting on the track. This is annoying in its entirety.

Angren, can you send us your game save, we would like to check why is your game crashes.

Since you can restart the game / tutorial even when you are stuck, you should be able to finish it. The newspaper icon indeed an issue time to time, since not everyone following the given order/path, but we try to cover all cases - like dont allow to buy bad stuff, add and even show you what to buy in the newspaper, but still few cases when it can go wrong. We will fix this asap.

Got it, somehow didn't ever notice that before. Unfortunately when I loaded my game back up where I was in the middle of the repair, the car I was repairing was no longer in the garage so I just lost all the money anyway. I did a few repairs and see how it works. I ran into a new problem though. I mistakenly bought a wrong part and then couldn't purchase the correct one because it says my budget was too low to afford the part. It wouldn't let me dip into my actual savings which is near $10,000 to buy a $45 to complete the repair I'd already spent $100 on. I may have taken a loss at the end of it but would have gotten most of my money back. As it was I had to return the car with a completely missing part.

It would be enormously helpful if there was an option to turn on highlighting of parts to click on. It's pretty frustrating trying to click the invisible hit box especially in areas where there are a lot of different parts like in the engine area.

noted! If you have enough money you should be able to buy unless it's "expired" (someone take it already). You can buy the missing parts in shops as well or try to refresh the newspaper and buy it from there. If you cannot process and it's say you don't have enough money -check the amount on the top left screen-, then I assume your save is broken. You can try with another new profile in the mean time, but it would help if you could send us that game save.

When I take a job to repair a car it seems I can not leave the car in the garage while I go do other things. Is it supposed to be that way?

Jobs are "little work" you can get some money and learn about errors you will also see when your car has the same issues. Atm, you cannot leave the garage. this will change later, when we will "merge" this with the new project system, so job's will be just like any other projects, you could leave the garage, go for shopping etc. For now, it is limited to stay in the garage until you finished it.

btw, one of the main reason was because player's broke the client's cars :) with driving around with them and a few more similar issues...
