- battery must be strong enough to spin the starter and in a min 80% charged state. Bad battery with 100% charge might wont be enough, just like a 100% good but week battery.
- starter must be strong enough to spin the motor
- bigger the engine, stronger battery and starter needed (brand's part parameters gives you a good hint, ie. a magura 7L engine's starter and battery will do the job for all others, smaller engines)
- carb, ignition, sparks, must be in good shape (80% +)
- ignition timing is crucial, sometimes it is off and it wont allow you to start the engine, so you cannot trim the timimg. The solution is to remove the ignition then reinstall, this way the timing will be "normalized" and it will be close enough to the center to start. You still need to fine tune once the engine is started up.
- fuel: you need at least 3L-5L for safe start
- fuse: while fueses are half ready, they are operational. If the fues box of fuses are damaged it might could cause problems with starting it up.
Usual errors and indications:
- when you start you don't hear any noise from the starter: most likely your starter is wrong or not enough power, battery issue
- when you hear to spin but very very slowly, it is starter or battery
- when you hear to spin and it start up the engine, rev up then stop: fuel issues, most likely carb or you don't have enough fuel to keep it running, just enough to start up
- if you only hear to spin, but no smoke, nothing... then look at the ignition (remount) and sparks or fuses
When you cannot figure it out, most likely:
1. check fuel (must be more then ~5L for safe start) Also one reason why it started once but not any more..
2. check fuses
3. re-mount the ignition (+ trim the timing if starts up)
Hope it helps!
if you bought the panania foxy edition it need a new starter because the devs f'd up and gave it a walea one
thanks to coming back and share it!
