Dialogue buttons disappear and left click doesn't work

Bought the game a few weeks ago, before the Jan 31st patch, only first played a couple of days ago, but after a few conversations some dialogue buttons just don't show up and I can only end the conversation by pressing spacebar, left click just stops progressing them.
I can use left click to interact, but during dialogue I cannot, and all but one of the buttons doesn't show up.
This keeps happening and I cannot get further than speaking to the janitor in the bathroom at the start of the day. And now it happens as soon as before the first bell when you can buy the voice recorder.

I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it multiple times but that doesn't fix the issue.
Is there anything I can do to fix it?

I have just tried installing to my local drive but that only made not able to click "yes" to starting the school day

Wow that is really unusual behavior. I can't recreate it on my end. Can you post your system specs?

Its an Acer Aspire A114-31
Intel Celeron CPU N3350 1.10GHz
Intel HD integrated graphics
4GB RAM
Its very odd I've not had many games' dialogue buttons break on me

I forgot to clarify originally, when I press space it presses the top dialogue button for me and advances, but I cannot see it or press with the mouse

I haven't, I did send the Dev some information about it but I think I'd just have to wait for the next patch

This is still happening :( I was so excited to play the game after all these years. If anyone has found a fix, please let me know!

I tried to open from the file source instead of Steam, and it made it happen more quickly. I also noticed that using the arrow keys and mouse exclusively make it not happen as quickly as if you incorporate the WASD and space bar into gameplay.

I got a new laptop that's more powerful I'll test it on there but I don't imagine it would help
