Have you tried rebooting Steam and starting the game from your Steam library, rather then from the .exe?

Or did you try this:

I have tried all the above solutions but am lacking the _commonredfiles file to begin with. I have validated my game files, restarted my computer, restarted steam, changed the game's GPU setting, and still no dice. I submitted a help ticket but I'm pretty furstrated.

My game also didn't come with the _commonredfiles folder, but I already had the 2013 version of Microsoft's Visual C++ installed.

This should be it: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784

No, you are not. You just don't know how to proceed with this mess of a game. It's not your fault.

There are 3 download options. "vcredist_arm" is meant for ARM devices. Which you most likely won't have. You have either an AMD CPU or an Intel CPU in your PC. If you have a 64x bit operating system then download and install the 64x version. If you have a 32x bit operating system then download and try to installl the 86x version. If you don't know what bit version is running you can check out the guide here: https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/21726/how-do-i-know-if-im-running-32-bit-or-64-bit-windows-answers/

Depending on your operating system VC++ 2013 may already come pre-installed. Windows 10 should already have it. Windows 8 also should have it. Windows 7 doesn't come with it and it has to be installed by the user. But it doesn't hurt to install it either way. If it is already installed on your PC then the setup will notify you of that.
