Kyoto Winds Part Two?
So, I know this game just came out two days ago but when do you think they will give us part two?

Apparently, part two has already been announced to be localized according to research. I was just wondering if anyone knew if they announced when part two is going to be released.

They haven't announced anything yet sadly :(

I've heard it'll be called Edo Blossoms and at IF's Hakuouki Festival Cafe their PR said we'd get it soon, hopefully early next year.

Probably February-April of next year or maybe May: The same month when part 1 was released...Who knows...

I heard the same thing as @nitoki (confirmation by PR at IFI's Hakuouki Cafe). Most likely Spring 2018. IFI's twitter and newsletter are the best places for updates. What isn't clear is whether that is just the **PS Vita** localization of Blossoms (I've heard both Kyoto Blossoms and Edo Blossoms - but Edo Blossoms makes more sense). Anyway, the Steam version may come out after the PS Vita version - no idea on that. :Chibi_Saito:

This makes me happy. I was worried we'd be stuck with half a game, and considering how in-depth Hakuoki is on every other platform I really wanted the full story on Steam too. I'm completely okay with it being broken into two parts, since there's twice as many routes available as before.

for the price of it being put on here and the amount of errors people seem to be finding with the game i'd hope it was a cheaper investment than this PC version. I have 3ds version and so on but I just wonder if new people will really buy into the half story this installment is offering. :Chibi_Sanan:

^ For anyone new to Hakuoki, this version is actually still quite lengthy. Also, because of the added characters, even if you've played previous versions of the game, there are still new scenes in the original routes.

Sure there's script errors but they're not really that commonplace. I find the current 30% sale price to be more than fair for the amount of content you're still getting, regardless of the fact you only get the first half of each route.

There's so much stuff added to the old routes along with the new ones. The amount of time to finish this, I was very okay for it to be split into two parts and plus the game is a lot cheaper on PC compared to the Vita version even without the discount.
Can someone explain this to me in a little more detail? I'm a newcomer to the series and I understand what we have on steam is apparently the first part of a two-part game, with the second part coming next year (hopefully), but in this thread and others people are mentioning all these different versions (PSP, PS Vita, PS3, PS4, 3DS) of what I'm assuming is the exact same game and talking about how some are split in half and some aren't, and how this version has content some other versions don't - I'm just a little confused.

I'm under the impression this game is a remake/remaster of an older Hakuoki game, maybe, and that's why it has a lot of additional content compared to the original? Or is this version of Kyoto Winds specifically that we got on steam different compared to a game by the same name that initially came out on a different system?

Is there a medium where I could buy this game, with all this extra content, that also has the second half? I looked on the PS3 store and found Kyoto Winds, but without knowing better I can only assume it's EXACTLY the same as what I've already bought on steam - only part one. I've heard something aboout a PS4 release that has both parts, but has that been brought over to America or is it still just in Japan?

In english? No. The only version that accomplishes this is the PS4 version, which is currently Japan only. Additionally, that version was released after the two-part Vita release, and after localization began for the first half of the game. The older versions of the game on the PSP, PS3 and 3DS are pretty much the same with minor differences, such as the PS3 having "breathing" portraits and such. The content itself is about the same.

(Though it's been quite a while since I've played one of the olders ones so someone feel free to correct me if I missed something)

It's essentially mostly the same game as previous releases. The primary difference is that this release has six additional routes, for a total of 12. All previous versions of the game only have six routes. This release has three routes for already existing characters, and three routes for brand new characters. There are additional brand new characters added as well, so even while the original routes are still essentially more of the same players have experienced in previous versions of the game, there are still new scenes with new characters in the original routes.

Routes in Hakuoki are quite lengthy, so even while the game is technically split in half, the additional routes mean you're still sinking quite a bit of time into completing the game. I've got about 40 hours (inflated number though because I've left the game up while cooking and stuff) in with 5 routes done, and I'm seeing a lot of people with 20-30 hours with 3-5 done. So you're likely not going to be finishing the game in under 30 hours or anything even with half the content. The only downside is that if you were looking for actual romance-related bits of the routes, those aren't going to come until the second half.

Hmm, okay, so it sounds like all the other versions I could potentially buy right now (in America) either don't have the extra content/routes that this one does (but are complete and have the full route for the original characters you could romance) or are just like this and have the extra stuff but not the other part of the game. That answers my main concern - I was afraid I'd spent thirty bucks on a partial game when I could have gotten the full package somewhere else. I'd rather wait for the other half of the game with the extra routes and choices than buy a technically full game with less content, definitely. Thanks for taking the time to explain it to me!
