Not everyone knows this, hell even the people who had ordered the game when it was released in Vita didn't know this. I know you guys did inform this before when you guys were promoting the game before it's release but I think this should be clearer. I mean I am already envisioning the negitive reviews this can bring.
On the side note about the Data storage requirements being 27 GB. I personally can handle taking a whole day just to download this but that RAM requirement being 8GB recommended and 3GB minimum makes me want to cry. My laptop is so old and It's not like I can just go and but a new one...
It's kind of annoying the game is split up in this manner, but I'm assuming it's due to the fact we get double the routes as the original game. Doesn't make it any less misleading however. I've already suggested to friends interested in getting into Hakuoki through Kyoto Winds to wait until both versions release and are on sale.
But there are more things than I had in the first game, there are more scenes and events for the classic characters, and we have six more routes.
Also English is simpler, I'm not English speaker, the PSP version had some unusual words for me.
So I believe even the game being split is still worth it for that reason.
But I fully agree with you that it should be clarified that when I discovered this still in the Vita version It was very hard to be sure.
There is a channel on youtube that made videos of the Vita game she could answer that kind of thing would be better to clarify like that.
Here are the downsides (just my opinion, ofc):
- in the complete game (for example, the PS3 Stories of the Shinsengumi), the "common route" was just a few early chapters out of 7-10 chapters (depending on the character route); in Kyoto Winds, the "common route" is most of the game, since they split the game with the Shinsengumi fleeing to Edo [so you play the common route a lot, although there's more variety in it now]
- this split isn't bad for most character routes (and there really are lots more choices), but I found it had a negative effect on Okita's route; it's not too bad, but even my friends who love Souji were disappointed, because Chizuru (the MC) does have to put up with a fair bit of harshness in the early part of Souji's route and by splitting the game you don't get much of the sweeter, character-growth aspects of the route before the game ends (it's not terrible, but it's something that a lot of us noticed)
NOTE: despite the above comment, there are also *extra* scenes with Okita in Kyoto Winds, so that definitely helps
- the translation for the new material is uneven at best (being generous); because Kyoto Winds is essentially a matter of playing the "common route" and making different choices, you're going to see the same odd errors several times. Then again, maybe by splitting the game, the second half will be better edited!
I'm more than happy to answer questions about the game here or on tumblr (impracticaldemon).

Thanks for the infos <3
As people have mentioned while its half the main story its double the character routes so content wise its fairly even to the full hakuoki (at least the western releases).
I didn't do my research before buying the Vita version, while being a bit supprised at the story ending 'early' I didn't feel there was a lack of content to be enjoied for the money I spent and probably wouldn't have noticed at all had I not previously played the full 3DS version.
For those wanting a full story experience I suggest picking up the 3DS/ PS3 version of the game, watching season 3 of the anime AFTER completeing Kyoto Winds (that will give you Toshizo's Route) or being patient and waiting for either the Vita sequal or PS4 version.
While the translation does have some errors as ImpracticalOni stated, it is by far the most superior game interms of presentation. Lots more finesse to the scenes, nicer animations than previously in the series. I just hope they did a check over for those translation mistakes!
I'll wait for the full release of the game and even then on sale as from what I'm reading it's yet another rehash of Hakuoki but with some added routes and if you've played the story once, your not really getting anything more overall storywise.
Although this is difficult I have sentimentso confused about this company. But I'm going to buy the game on the new routes.
Same here, Based on what I heard, half the story or not there's going to be a lot of content to go through so this will still be worth it.
Besides, Edo Blossoms is in the works so hopefully it wont take too long for it to be released in vita and in steam.
