Game Crashes at specific spot
Hi everyone,
I'd love to keep playing that game but it keeps "crashing", always at the same spot (near Auntie cottage, as soon as the small boss is cleared and the cutscene is done). There is no error message, the game just closes.

I read many topics and tried many different options... Windowed, not windowed, with or without FPS limitation, high, low settings, reinstalled my graphic drivers, reinstalled the game, tried different controllers... Nothing worked.

Here's what I'm using:

- Alienware 15 R4
- Intel Core i5-8300H
- Nvidia GTX 1060 (Mobile)
- WD Blue SN550 NVMe PCIe M.2 1TB
- Samsung M471A1K43BB1-CRC 2x8GB

Any help?

Thanks.

verify game files that might fix it

I have the same crashing problem. Mine started after 12 hours of game play, at the first skirmish and then crashed more and more frequently to the point that is it unplayable. Crash meaning that the screen turns black and you cannot return to windows. Windows will eventually hang or reboot.
I run an AMD 5700 XT with updated drivers.
I have tried a multitude of in game settings (including borderless, no HDR, unlimited FPS [30 FPS] and various resolutions. I've tried manipulating the steam controller settings as well as clearing my PC cache, verifying the local game files and running the .exe as administrator with 'high' priority.
I generally concluded that in game settings were not pertinent to the crashing. I actually had the most consistency by running everything at max. Go figure. I fumbled with the game settings in steam as well as the AMD software. No help.
In a move of desperation, I tried the floating modified .exe from that gem of a dude, NanoHDR. Still crashes..

Any insights?

Crashes happen less frequently when in a town. Inversely, the crashes happen very often during battle.

If you tried everything, the only thing I can think of is try a different save spot for the game.

Sounds like the game wants to autosave after the fight and something happens. Maybe this is corrupted, save the file and delete it and see what happens.
Or deactivate the Cloud save additionaly. If I had issues in a game with crashes this was fixing it most of the time.

I confirm, it was corrupted. I redid a clean install and it went through just fine after.
It is now fixed with no more crashes.

Thanks guys.

Thanks Sarena77. I turned off the cloud saves and it worked. I no longer receive crashes. Skirmishes still crash if I am in them for too long, however, there have been no more crashes after over 15 additional hours of game play.

what you did was uninstall and reinstall the game?

Because it didn't happen to me after 60 hours of play, I'm in the last two DLCs, and it happens to me every hour

Turning off cloud saves made all the difference.

That being said, skirmishes still crash without fail. Every skirmish will crash at some point (either right at the beginning or near the end). **I keep trying..., it keeps failing

Aside from this significant problem, not a single crash during a boss fight or in the other areas of the game.

I did a full clean reinstall.
- Uninstall
- Clear all files / folders related to that game
- Reboot
- Reinstall...

Tested and working great for the last 30 hours of gameplay.

Okay. So the crashing is returning. The cloud saving seems to be directly related, as mentioned by Serena77. My belief is that even though cloud saves can be turned off in the game settings, the game is still communicating with the cloud at certain points and crashing.

Is there a way to turn off ALL cloud storage, regardless of the game played? Like, completely sever cloud from Steam? Any further suggestions?

**the people with this problem are here because we have checked the games file integrity and reinstalled multiple times. We are looking for the next step.
