How is the difficulty of the game?
Back when it was released i heard the game what so easy that you could almost afk and still beat the game (combat wise, don't know if it's true). Recently i heard there's a new difficulty mode (or more?) so i wanted to know how hard it is. Also does the gameplay require any kind of skill, planning, or is it more or less a stat check game.

I'll assume this is pre-extra difficulties. While the game still didn't really look all that challenging, it atleast isn't as bad as i heard at first. So i'll try the game on hard or higher and see from there.

I picked up the game, maybe a week and half to two weeks ago. I immediately started playing on Expert (max difficulty) because of what was said about the difficulty in the past.

I've gotten passed some bosses after 2-4 resets at most. Enemies can one-shot you. However, I for one believe simply upping the damage of a enemy doesn't really make things difficult.

Do play on Expert, though, so you won't have to go through the entire game a second or third time. Unless, of course, you become fond of the game and just want to.

It's such a dumb "difficulty", that's not really better than when there was only the easy mode imo.

The games main quest stuff are all easy overall when you're equal level or just under enemy levels. I'm replaying on expert and it made me realize what made the game easy on Normal. It's enemy damage. Now that enemies can drop me in 2 hits or so, I now think my moves over more carefully. When running into a pack of like 5 enemies a can't just run in and attack because I'll drop in half a second. Normal is basically just to enjoy the story, hard is whatever difficulty. It's what the normal should have been. Expert is more like a Dark Souls style of experience. Not extremely hard or anything. But a simple mistake can drop your character. Part of what makes the game easy is that despite what people say, the CPU are extremely competent and can dodge most enemy attacks if not timed bad. The only real issue with your AI companions is that they don't retreat. So if a enemy is charging and you can't stun them in time, they'll still try and get dropped.

Now outside of the main story. Tainted monsters are actually difficult for the most part. Nothing extreme for the most part. But the damn Fairy you battle as Tainted 57 or something and Tainted Octo at I think 49 or something were both a pain for me. Golems are dangerous and probably the biggest threat in the whole game honestly.

But where the difficulty lies is dodging enemy attacks. on normal you don't need to dodge much to walk through enemies. Hard you got to block a bit or dodge to do fine. Expert, you gotta time things right and dodge well. But honestly the AI kinda get timings perfect against normal enemies and can probably take a whole group solo better than you will lol.

PS. If it holds any importance. I've platinum'd it on PS4 completing everything and the DLC on both Hard and Expert. Now replaying on PC specifically on expert as I platinum'd before harder difficulties came
