Suggestions for modern J-RPG games which are equally as good as DQ-Xi / NiNo 2 / Persona 5 / FF XV

Currently playing through Dragon Quest XI and Ni No Kuni 2 , but I am starting to wonder what other games should I be considering playing next ?

I am looking for something similar , nice arcade feel adventure game that are similar to DQ XI , NiNO2, Person 5 that have been released in the past couple of years ideally.

I have played all the Final Fantasy games , both Divinity original sin 1+2 , pillars of eternity 1+2, I also have a PS4 Pro and I have played Persona 5.

I don't really consider Divinity sin or pillars to be quite the type of game I am looking for, or anything that is similar to the Witcher 2 or 3 ..

Just looking for really well made J-RPG games that are modern feeling with not too many random encounters, I like how DQ XI , NiNo2 and Persona 5 you can move around the battles and with the option to go grinding if you really want to.

Any cool suggestions for brilliant J-RPG games that are available on PC that have been released in the past couple of years? or anything that is coming out in a month or two ?!?

You can take a look at the Tales of series i guess (you didn't mention it) there are 3 games right now on steam (2 recent and 1 "old") and a fourth one soon

- Tales of Berseria (2017) is similar to Ni no kuni 2 (with a deeper battle system) and Tales of Zestiria (2015) on sales (-75%). There is a demo for Berseria if you want to try

- Tales of Symphonia (remaster of a gamecube game) and the definitive edition of Tales of Vesperia (originally PS3/X360 game) coming early january 2019


On other part, there is also the The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel series (1 & 2 on pc) which is apparently very good, but didn't play it yet :/

Berseria, Nier, I hear the newest Ys is pretty good, too. Vesperia is coming out on PC next month, too, which is arguably the best Tales game in the series. You got some great options.

Neir Automata should be near the top of your list.

I wouldnt put Valkyria Chronicles in the same catagory. Have a good look at a lets play on that one.

What aspects are you looking for specifically?

You could look into the Star Ocean Series as well. I haven't played the latest one.

If its the combat I would look into the Third and Fourth Devil May Cry games. Note not the Reboot.

If its more of an RPG lean that you are looking for the list looks pretty complete for PC sadly. I myself have been looking around for a while to scratch that itch.

If you are open to console games you actually have a much bigger selection.

My personal highlight is XenoBlade Chronicals X. That is a huge RPG game with tons of exploration and content. Nice variety in how you approach the combat as well.

I have a ps4 pro, but was tempted to buy a switch for the latest xenoblade games, but I am not sure I can justify the spend on a Nintendo Switch as I would not use it enough, although I would really like to play zelda.

I have played Neir in the past, I must admit it felt more like a Tomb raider / arcade game to me, loved the music though and the shooting section at the start in particular the music is totally intense, I might give it another go, I got around 5 hours into before.

Thank you , I bought Tales of Berseria the other day on {LINK REMOVED}G2a.com key site for £5.29 , excellent game, very tempted with the release of the remaster on Jan the 11th for the other Tales game :)

Maybe try out some of the Atelier games? Atelier Sophie or Rorona are both good starting points, and the latter just got a remastered release on steam.
