Limited Budget. Give me reasons not buy?
So I have and very limited budget and a few games on my radar. Now to be clear when budget allows I will be buying Ni no Kuni. That said this thread is about helping decide my purcahse order.

Give me reasons why I shouldn't buy Ni no Kuni.

It has some tedium as you need to do a lot of fetch. This is standard in JRPGs but it might be a turn off for you. The "Strategy" part of the game straight up sucks. The pc controls are a bit iffy i recommend playing with a controller. If youre not playing on the hardest difficulty the game is incredibly easy as you can kill the end boss while being 20 levels under the requirement.

The game succes is hugely influenced by your personal tastes. Still personally i think it's one of the best games i've played. Really, get it.

Yeah I'm pretty sure this is right up my alley. The issue it right now I have about 4 others that are as well. Seeing as i can only buy one right now I'm aiming to find out which is most likely to cause me the least frustration.

DOS2 and PoE2 both sadly have the quality of life issue that turns me off their originals .

Neir is on special.

So right now its between Ni no, Pathfider or early access to Phoenix Point.

Divinity is still great, though. I've played through it multiple times. Great story telling, challenging fights. Crafting is pretty obsolete and food is pretty useless. In my first play through, I never used food until the last boss fight and in my second, I never even touched it.

It does have its issues with leveling, as well.

Neir is great, too. If I were you, I'd get that over Ni No Kuni 2. Great music, great combat, great atmosphere, like a 7/10 - 8/10 story. Yeah... get that instead.

The only problem with Ni No Kuni 2, imo, is that when you play on Expert, enemies do a ton of damage in one blow "just because." There isn't a change in their programming that makes them difficult (dodges, healing, etc.). It's just the damage spike (and probably a health spike).

Playing the game on any difficulty other than Expert would likely be boring. But even so, being max level now, the only thing that is a problem is the DLC boss' orb projectile move with the orbs doing a stupid amount of damage for no reason each. Again... "just because"

Yeah Neir is top of my list the day it drops under $80 on special.

What's the best comparison to the combat?

I'm honestly looking for fun more than challenge. So the lower difficulty doesnt bother me.

Also right now the fact that it's not a buggy mess is really recommending it.

theres not a single reason not to buy it tbh unless you dont have a controller or your pc cant handle it.
Well, character development for at least two party members is sparse throughout in the main game, and the rest of it is locked behind overpriced, lazy DLC.
Story starts off interesting but kinda devolves into generic JRPG fare.
Mandatory resource and kingdom grinding in endgame.

You can get gold gear in Lair of the Lost Lord DLC. You also pick up pebbles and candies from the sparklies. Not to mention the satisfaction of having figured out the boss. He has to charge up his teleport attack skill.
