If you look at abilities and that in your menu, you cna go over an abiliy and it might show something like. [image of wind-type higgledy]x4 and then a new ability name
That means that you can charge it and when 4 wind higgledies "jump into you", it'll be a powered up/elemental version of that attack.
I have only ever seen this happen one time.
Is it something the higgledies have to decide to do? Or is it something I can make happen when I want?
Whenever you want. Just run into the higgledy type and hold down the spell. It does good damage but you're prone to being hit so ideally use it when you're far away from whatever you're fighting. Is it worth it? Meh. As long as you use an element type the enemy is weak against is doesn't really matter. Only time I used it all game was versus the end/post game boss fights since you basically get 1 hit no matter the gear and they have a ♥♥♥♥ ton of hp for no reason.
