imo it wasn't. The familiars evolutions didn't change them much and the combat system flat out sucked. Even if the AI wasn't broken (Which it was) it would've still been boring.
Even if the game is much more usable and accessible for its battle system, the art direction feels very unconsistent, compared to NNK1. I really hate the fact that in an universe drawn in a Ghibli-style, characters become chibi and the environment becomes photo-realistic, but just in some specific situations.
It's something really unelegant that was fine for a PS1 game, but in game with an art-direction like this one, it really feels out of place.
I can't explain myself why they made this choice :(
Like that sky pirates gang, who suddenly became loyal because Evan showed them a being that looks like a toy you would find in Happy Meal in Mcdonalds.
