Cmon. You can't remove Cav from a Napoleonic game. Cav existed. Personally the only thing I don't like is the trample (I've been saying this for ages). It's nothing to do with realism (yeh Cav could trample) just it gives the cav two chances to kill you and no one else gets two chances. If I miss with my bayonet but stumble clumsily into my opponent I don't do any damage. If Cav misses with sword but crashes into me he kills me or knocks me down. In knocking me down somehow my weapon becomes unloaded. Remove trample and you remove the opportunity for kills by pure dumb luck.

like in mount and blade NW the sabre HAS to touch you to kill you. AND you can hear them coming. in this its like the horses are wearing socks.. and they snipe u with the sabre

Mount and blade melee is far better then holdfast IMO. I don't mind cavalry. I've played it and it's clunky and weird for me... I don't have a real problem with others using it either.

iv used cav in m&b and its hard to use and fair, if i get killed by cav in m&b i dont mind. But in this, i've not even tried cav as i see it as purely exploitative its the same as cheating IMO.

The problem is a perfectly timed thrust with a musket and bayonet gets beat every time by a poorly timed saber swing despite the musket/bayonet having a greater reach irl.

(Edit: Also, when moving at full speed they seem to move at 10fps)

How did you know how far away he was btw ? , as far as I know melee kills don't show a distance.

im playing cav mainly at the moment and the meele is so bad compared to m&b they could improve the cav a little bit more, it isnt that easy to play with it. But the point is as cav player u get shot so often because ur hitbox is rly big. U need to find ways behind enemie lines or attack if infantry is reloading.

From Mount I have the Experience to always affront horses head on, you counter charge them so you get to say when you hit them. always worked wether it was with sabers or Musckets. now I don't know if this works in Holdfast as well but it may be so

4.3 meters is awfully specific for someone who had to google what 4.3 meters actually is, and the guy clearly states he meant the sabre reach, which is odd, because as I mentioned a melee kill doesn't even give a distance.

Another thing which is kinda odd is that he's removed the reply where he initially types this, almost as if he realised he made a little bit of a boo boo and revealed something about his gameplay that he really didn't want to share.

The problem isn't cavalry it's melee. It's so clunky when you get stabbed either on foot or on horse it looks as if you're being ghost reached half the time. They need to fix melee combat in general and then cavalry will be in a better spot.

people complaining about melee seem like the same guys who point blank me @ 1-6m. to me melee is progressing well,a bit slow but well,comparing it to like 2 or even 1 year ago.

now cavalry,i shot the same cav like 8 times in 1 round yesterday, and another 5 times shot his horse,his score was 70plus kills to 18 deaths,just by galloping around christina battle map and spawnkilling while sh!talking on the mic, well done hf devs,you provide therapy ( ? ) to needy teenagers with broken voices but is really this your primary objective,at least clarify so we know

Cav in this game are only OP when enough people playing on the server decide they dont have to shoot the horse someone else will. Had a game the other day, guy went like 40/0 as a hussar. Gave the team a speech about it, next round, same hussar, went like 5/15.

TLDR: SHOOT THE HORSES
