Timed gameplay?
Just discovered this game and watched some gameplay, the videos are old but from what I understood, you are "timed" in the sense that impossible enemies will spawn and force you to end the game faster or die. Is this still a thing, or can this be removed in the ingame options? I really dislike this "feature" as I'm more of a completionist...

I bought the game yesterday and had a good time in it until it straight up murdered me.
Can't say I am a big fan of that kind of forced tempo mechanics either.

Yes, at some point you are forced to proceed forward.
This is a roguelike game, thus you will die a lot before being able to beat it.
When your character dies, you will earn gems based on the level it was. Those gems can be used to purchase items with which you can start a new run and make it easier.

If the shadow goes far enough to the right, you have to fight the sky eater, the 3rd ending. It has 9999 health. If you fight it this way, you will most likely want to defeat the demon lord before. You can also slow down time, with a specific charm, called the Charm of Mire I believe.

the timer isn't that bad, even in the shadow the sky eater monsters start off low until the shadow has gone further east. If you're playing the mage class you can unlock the teleport ability which allows you to move across the overworld and dungeons without time passing, this comes in handy late game as money becomes plentiful and mages potions are cheap. You can just teleport to every single location on the map and complete every quest if you wanted.
