Bitdefender has detected an infected item
I started up my computer today and was going to play another round of Kingsway but for some reason Bitdefender was blocking it.

Hey! I have no idea why it's saying this. Will look into it right away. Possible false-positive perhaps? Let me know if you find anything else.

I've done the usual, like CCleaner and I always have Bitdefender on. The problem only started up today when I first turned on my computer.

Before finding out Bitdefender was blocking it, I was getting Missing File Permission and Disk Write Error, which is typical when BD takes the file away. I uninstalled Kingsway, tried placing it on other drives, still the same problem, BD would just take the exe away. I even tried the Kaspersky scan for TDS.

After I found that Bitdefender was blocking it, I contained the file and scanned with the virus total website.

I've had no other problems with my computer. I'm thinking it's a false positive as well. Would probably need to submit to them to check.

Looking into it, it seems to happen sometimes with games made in Gamemaker Studio:

Will see what I can do about getting it trusted. Thanks for letting me know.

Edit: I have submitted a support ticket with Bitdefender and hope to get the exe whitelisted

Hey I was just wondering if you got the game to work again. The same thing happened to me earlier today and no matter what I do with Bitdefender or steam I keep getting the "Missing File Permissions" error text on launch.

You can manually whitelist files through Bitdefender:

Hope this helps!

I hope you haven't uninstalled it or anything yet. I've done that a few times. If you're trying to press Play on Kingsway, and it gives you the error, you can do the following:

To get Kingsway.exe back from Bitdefender, open Bitdefender (located in your system tray, bottom right by your clock on the desktop). When it's opened, click the 3 lines at the top and the left side menu will open, click Notifications.

Where it says Infected File Detected, click one of the messages. It should say the path to Kingsway.exe, and it should have 2 buttons, RECOVER and DELETE. Recover the file.

Then follow the Exclusions and Exceptions link in the above OR if you want, just go back into the Bitdefender menu on the top left.

Go to Protection, click View Modules > (on the right), click the gear icon on the ANTIVIRUS menu, go to EXCLUSIONS at the menu on the top, then locate in your Steam folders and ADD Kingsway.exe for both "Excluded Files and Folders" and "List of Processes Excluded from scanning".

I couldn't wait to play more Kingsway today :)

Thank you @FIGS! This helped me out and let me play Kingsway. Weird, never ever had to White list a steam game. Keep up the great work!

Possibly pin this until the whitelisting come through

Sadly trying to reinstall was one of the first things I did. Ended up making it work by making a new steam library on my other drive and then whitelist it on BD before steam would allow me to reintall it. Thanks for all the help still as now I'm able to continue playing this amazing game!

Just stepping in, played a ton of this (even with Bitdefender Internet Security 2017) installed. Woke up, today flagged as a generic Trojan. Not sure whats up. 7/25/2017 8:21 AM CDT.

You guys can probably expect this to occur on occasion, especially if the dev is going to update the game. No cause for concern really: Just a false-positive IMO. Add to your AV whitelists and play-on.
Xenpo Jul 25, 2017 @ 8:16am
Guidez, due to the nature of Bitdefender, I have been unable to (whitelist) the application. So I am thankful the dev has escalated to the AV. Bitdefender has quite a bit of a rep on it's own forums for False Positives, and the whitelist not working. I am actually looking into alternative AVs.
Guidez Jul 25, 2017 @ 10:05am
@Xenpo , I have bitdefender and have it whitelisted just fine. If you are using the latest version of Bitdefender, you can do the following:

1. Right click Bitdefender in your system tray and click "Show"
2. Click the gear icon (Settings) in the top right corner of the window
3. Go to the "Quarantine" section/tab
4. Click on the quarantined Kingsway.exe, and you should be able to exclude/recover the file.
