On a side note, Dead Cells immortalis was awful to put it lightly. Please, i hope that you won't put references to it in the game. And next time you want to animate something, put serious peoples on it. Instead of taking the CNC money and making whatever Immortalis ended up being...
Edit : My bad, i just remembered that Motion Twin were in charge of Immortash*t and not Evil Empire. It could explain the HUGE difference of quality. Also, if what some say here is true, then F*** Motion Twin to force you to end the game sooner than you planned. I hope that their greed will stop growing or it might eventually come back to bite them in the ass.
I also could be totally misreading this, but I do agree that this game was just. Killed. Not even in a dignified way. MT basically just took it behind a shed, really. This was genuinely one of the few games where I'd buy the DLC on sight - I have all of them. I've not much progress in the game as I'm not that good at it, but its still an amazing game, and now its in. This state.
And the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that is Immortalis - pretty sure if EE was still the ones on Dead Cells, we would've gotten the trailer style animation that was shown in the teaser, not whatever the hell we have now.
Windblown looks amazing, I must admit, but I can't bring myself to support the current state of Motion Twin.
"This state." you mean like a finished game that was updated for over 6 years? yeah, great game as it was and still is. don't like the last update? roll back to whatever one you liked.
about the show, you do realise that DC never was EE's product, it was always MT's. EE had nothing to do with the trailers. as said before, it was a budget decision because a full show done by the artist of the trailers would have cost much more. but tbh, that show would have worked, the one they made is like you said pretty
some also seem to miss the part that EE worked and works on the Prince of Persia game. how long were they supposed to keep making free updates for DC?
no matter what, DC is finished (and was finished years ago as well...). we all have to accept that, there is nothing else coming for DC (besides patches i guess). enjoy what you have or move on...
here's some more concrete info that might clear up some points:
According to Motion Twin, in a 2023 press release, they had stated that Dead Cells would see meaningful updates until 2025, but have since said that it was a mistake to say that as early as they did. However, that was never official and the only official roadmap for Dead Cells only had content coming until the end of 2023. Motion Twin also stated that in late September 2023, Evil Empire were working on an early prototype for a new DLC that they put an end to because they felt that it did not fit into the mold of the original game.
read the rest here, summing it up pretty well imo. https://www.vdgms.com/news/dead-cells-is-done-what-happened-with-motion-twin-and-evil-empire
edit: another good read with some nice insights. https://www.gamesindustry.biz/from-dead-cells-to-reinventing-retro-ip-the-untold-story-of-evil-empire
TL/DR the roadmap was until end of 2024!
They're also selling their new game already. Do you think a studio is just making one successful game and then they just live off that forever? Yes, the Peak of players (who buy it) is over, and that is not just since this year. the playerbase will obviously go down as well, which is normal for a singleplayer game. you don't seem to know much about the industry, so maybe don't comment on it. js...
