More late game stuff. Lots of focus for that for some reason. Always found it odd that they've never really cared to focus on improving the early game, where players of every level play, and is a core part of the "die and repeat" gameplay of games like this. Always seemed like a glaring oversight to me that they've neglected improving much of the early game.

Because it gives the vets something to return to. Keep in mind the beginning portions are what you'll always be playing (consider boss cells) so it'll be fresh and refreshing when you finally get further. The Bad Seed dlc added some early game variety but pretty much all the rogue-lites/likes I have played have had a pretty standard beginning with little variety. You want that because you want an area that is comfortable, that is known, that you can get past. If there's too much variety, that in and of itself can be a deterrent too. If people can't "deal" with lack of variety in a rogue-like/lite that is built around repetition at its core, then there's other games. Meanwhile, in Dead Cells, once you learn, get better, and progress, now there's even more new stuff for you to see. More reason for you to push on rather than more reason for you to get frustrated with death after death brought on by the unfamiliarity of too much variety in the beginning.
