Depending on who you ask, Brutality has the best mutations in the game.
Thus, I can’t raise the level normally and get bonuses for 30 killings.
That's a great idea! Would make for an interesting pastime between runs. Doesn't have to be pages and pages for each enemy or anything - a short paragraph here, a single line there, little bite-sized bits of lore. Speaking as a writer who frequently writes too much, there is often elegance in brevity, and this game's creators seem to get that. No need to go changin'.^^
- For the people who don't make video games professionally. Ok.
- For the questions about not touching the balancing, that's the next update ^^.
- For the animation/mob design issues, yeah we'll keep polishing as we always do.
- For those of you who were happy about the update, thanks! :D
Cheers,
As for the weapons, this is where the use of skills focused around crowd-controlling enemies come into play, as well as shields. The Rampart is arguably the best tool to pair alongside slow-swinging Survival weapon, as it can be used to grant an invulnerability barrier that lets you attack freely without fear of being hit. But other shields can provide other useful benefits - Cudgel for increased stun time, Punishment for clearing out groups of enemies - as well as the presence of affixes that prevent enemies from interrupting your attacks, or nearby enemies being slowed down when you land a kill with the weapon.
You should also keep in mind that the multiple paths of progression through the game are designed to have different levels of challenge for greater rewards. As an example, I've found that the Morass of the Banished is one area where an item like Hemorrhage, with its long wind-up and single-target damage, tends to struggle. However, going into this area grants you the ability to get an early-game food shop on 2BC+ and, as of the recent update, the potential to skip the first boss. So while it is more punishing on slower weapons, you can reap the rewards for pushing through. And of course you could take one of the other pathways to a different first boss if one is giving you too much trouble.
It is also important to remember that Dead Cells is designed to be a more fast-paced game, so enemies with quick attacks are going to be an ever-present concern. If you're struggling to keep up with damage, you may want to consider investing more cells into the Forge in order to upgrade your gear to ++ (if you haven't already reached its limit for 1BC), which will grant items with a +1 to one of the stats that it scales with.
First of all I think the 1bc healing is an unclear mess of "sometimes you have a flask, sometimes you have a fountain". It needs to be clearer. I've seen people suggesting 1 flask at the end of each biome, except around bosses where you'd get a fountain (which is where flasks are in 2bc). That would be a good idea
Then there is the terrible design of the forge and gear upgrades. When you're a new player, you'll beat 0bc in a couple tries because it's dumb easy nowadays, and where will you spend your cells ? On unlocking the shiny new weapons you collected in your runs of course !
1Bc being harder, a new player will be locked on it a bit longer..... But since h'll keep unlocking new blueprints, he'll keep using cells to unlock gear (and general upgrades), since new gear must be better than the starting right ?
And then he'll be stuck on 2BC. Why ? Because on 2bc it's not the gear that matters, but its quality. You can easily beat 2BC with only the gear unlocked at the start of the game, without ever unlocking anything. What matters is to have all of your gear at least ++ (S for good measure but it's optional at this stage).
You have dumped all your cells in the forge, not unlocking any new gear but raising gear quality to ++ ? 2BC will be easy
You have used your cells to unlock all these shiny new weapons and skills, but have the forge stuck on base quality/+ quality ? Sorry, 2BC ain't for ya, come back after grinding 1bc
The problem with the 2bc spike is that's it's determined by your forge quality. And since forge uses cells, the same currency as weapon unlocking uses, a new player won't necessarily think of using these cells in the forge.
As I said, terrible, terrible design. Let's hope for a rework of how gear quality works
