So...what does the Face Flask do?

It seems like a bit of a joke item, but the other crossover items all seem to have at least some niche use. I use it, it deals some damage to me, the item affixes go off (i.e.: cover the ground in oil or something), and...that seems to be it? I know I'm missing something, so I'd really appreciate some help.

Aside from triggering affixes (which with enough of them can be a substantial benefit on its own), it also lets you trigger any of your affects dependent on taking damage without needing to take the usual penalties. For example, you can trigger spite sword crits and the vengeance mutation and not have to take a real hit in the process. Face flask doesn’t kill you while cursed or ruin flawless doors, and I don’t think it breaks kill streaks either. It’s rarely useful on its own unless it has some crazy affixes, but it’s very useful for synergy with other effects.
