Easy Boss Cell Progression
To aid in my fellow adventurers ascending through Dead Cells (and eager to play all the content available) I have the following tips which are valid under the current update (2.6):
  • CUSTOM MODE WITH ANY MODIFIERS CAN BE USED TO UNLOCK THE NEXT BOSS CELL AND THE CORRESPONDING ACHEIVEMENT. There are no downsides to gaining access to the next boss cell using custom mode as the achievement, even with modifiers that state they disable achievements. After being stuck for 30 hours on 2 BSC, I attempted the next boss cell using custom mode with all flask recharges and maximum allowed modifier number. With a day, I earned boss cells 3, 4, and 5 and the achievements popped upon starting the next game. As cell multiplier increases (alongside available gear/mutation unlocks with new enemies) with the number of active boss cells, this can very quickly accelerate farming and unlocks.
  • Upon reaching the 5th boss cell, there is no reason not to use aspects outside of not being able to get the flawless achievements. This can be used for farming, finishing the rest of the content on the 5th boss cell, etc.
  • Armadillo pack is crazy and changes the game when it comes to parrying/rolling. It allows you to parry many many attacks just by rolling. Outside of this, it is instrumental (even with custom mode) to avoid hits as much as possible.
  • Legendary Forge greatly assists with making it through or unlocking more power. Legendary Forge is available after the 1st two bosses and YOU CAN FARM AND KEEP CELLS by breaking the door rather than spending them with the Collector between levels. This allows you to make synergistic builds easier and saves money for buying weapons, refilling modifiers, or buying food over time and is worth the investment.
Good luck!

Not according to the developers of the game.

Added a small mention of the possibility to use Custom Mode to lock back items in the Collector UI to encourage players to unlock everything, even items they might end up not liking. Use the Custom Mode! It's part of the game! You're not cheating!
