Help me decide if I might enjoy this game?
On one hand, this looks like it's a great action game. I enjoy fast-paced combat. I really liked Hollow Knight. I enjoyed Sundered. I love Dragon's Dogma. I might love this. The gameplay looks fun.

On the other hand, this is a roguelike. I don't have a problem with it necessarily, I like Bloody Spell (though that game has checkpoints at the beginning of each level iirc, so not sure it counts), but I think I care about having an open world. For example, both Celeste and Wizard of Legend feel disappointing because the exploration isn't rewarding; I can't go back to the start of the world whenever I want, and I don't like that. I did like Sundered, but I thought that there wasn't enough to explore and the environments were not varied enough.

What's this game like? Does it scratch the open world itch? Is it more like Sundered (open, explorable world), or more like Wizard of Legend (go go go, find the boss room in the maze, then go to the next maze).

Thanks so much!

How each zone is built depends a lot on what zone it is, some are really maze-like (sewers in particular but nearly all underground parts are at least somewhat maze-like) and some have an above ground part that is linear instead (from left to right, with either underground parts or buildings that are somewhat maze-like).
Each zone has an entrance (you can't go back into it) and 1+ exit (most have 1 or 2 but one even has 3).

Your goal is to reach one of the exits (each goes to a different next zone), some zones have mini-bosses to unlock runes but the other bosses are all in their own zone that has nothing else, so it's not 1 boss per zone.

There are a decent amount of zones, each with their own feel but if you don't like the 1-way progression with no way back you might not enjoy this.
The combat is really satisfying so it's worth playing for this alone if that's your kind of thing, but there are enough good games out there to be picky and still have plenty to play, so up to you in the end.

Thanks, sounds like it has more freedom than I expected
