Red skulls (x2)

what are those red skulls and why do i randomly keep getting them? there is no tutorial/indication for why i get them and how to remove this curse. I was extremely close to defeating the watcher but died because of this.

It's an indicator for a modifier on one of your items, namely "Deal and recieve double damage."

read the stats on your weapons

some might say damage dealt x2 damage recieved x2 or x4 x2

I just got to level 5 or something and I learned to stay far from any of these damage multiplier weapons, they might be powerful, but there is some almost unavoidable damage, and it kills me pretty quick.

It's worth it if the weapon is good.
