Also quick question, I know Custom Mode normally doesn't disable achievements, but does it disable future BSCs acquisitions?
Nope, Custom Mode by itself does not have any drawbacks. Just some of the settings can lock you out of achievements (those settings have padlock symbols beside them and all the modifiers that prevent achievements also show up in red text on the Custom Mode main menu). The achievements for getting new BSC are potentially an edge case. I don't actually know what the curret state is. It used to be that you could permanently miss those achievements (you would get the BSC without achievement and then could never redo it on the same save file). I've also been hearing that as a fix they now award you the achievement regardless of whether you use CM settings that lock you out, but I am not positive. I suggest you unlock new BSC with settings that don't prevent achievements, just to be sure.
I've been having a blast with Custom Mode, been practicing BSC 4 which I haven't played since 2019 (I think?) and some of the achievement-locking options are incredible for getting back to higher difficulties.
