Dead Cells

The Watcher's tentacle phases are just INSANE
You don't feel like dodging and punishing is a valid strategy when the window to hit these things is miniscule. It's just ridiculous, especially in the later two phases when one will come flying to cheap shot you when you're taking a moment to punish one for missing.

They should start off slower at the very least, and the window to hit them needs to be increased somewhat. When a fast weapon like any of the smaller swords has trouble punishing while IN RANGE due to the window being too small there's clearly a problem. I don't personally have too much to complain about with the ones that come rushing across the floor except that they have no real start point for the move as I've had them just pop into existence from the wall I'm standing by. And I've beaten this boss, it's not unbeatable but in that particular run it came down to spamming double knife storm and dodge spamming. I get them speeding up over time as you kill them but this is just EXCESSIVE at the moment.

Cue the usual "get good" statements and people who have beaten the boss with X build.

step 1 to making the game uninteresting
As if collecting 500 cells for a slight damage increase is interesting, or heavily relying on decent drops if you don't have enough money to buy something from the merchant or to open a door. Having 10k gold on me keeps me going trough harder levels where every actual good weapon cost more than I got in the last 2 levels.
certainly makes the game even less interesting to be invincible and destroy everything instantly without effort, might as well try to make the game as fun and challenging as you can while waiting for the next updates

If I ever resort to cheating, it'd be to start with 10 Skill-Weapon-Health and see how hard it breaks the game. For fun.

using cheats to break games in silly ways, on the other hand, can be hilarious and fun

Oh, you tell me! I loved messing with games to see how hard I could break them.

Alright the cheating discussion is rather irrelevant... I was merely saying the boss in question could use some work to give a more fair window of opportunity when it misses an attack.

Seems like only a few have this problem. Many others have killed it without a problem.

Yeah, I've noticed an insane difficulty spike there as well. The game is otherwise well balanced, but the difficulty is ramped up to insane levels at the Watcher tentacles. The boss himself is quite easy, but the tentacle phase is crazy. It's made worse by me having invested in upgrading the dual daggers, and there's never time to attack 3 times for the crit because the tentacles come and go so fast, so my damage is piss-poor.

You can kill the Watcher and it's tentacles with nothing more than a Rusty Sword.
If you don't have enough damage (strengh) or can't manage to get in range before you miss your dodge every single run, maybe try someting else ?
A skill based run could be just as fun and deal enough damage to kill the tentacles at a distance.
An health based one gives you an insane amount of health, scales with your potions and give you more time to take down the tentacles. You can even sit still, let them hit you and get your health back by hitting them...
If a strengh build isn't for you, you have other choices. I have no problem dodging them now that I know their pattern of attack, even got the no hit achievement a few days ago.

The game is fun and I tried pretty much all the builds:

• Strengh and Skill pretty much allows you to kill everything fast in every room.
• Health lets you tank every single attack of any enemy, heal back up from hitting them and when you get to 10-20%, drink a potion a go back to almost full to do it all over again.

Both routes are fun, just give it a try ;)

What if i tell you that this has already be done. He was faster before.

Then I will be thoroughly impressed by anyone who has beaten him with a melee weapon without cheese strats like my stupid double knife storm setup.

He can be beaten more "easily" if you get all the tentacles to low HP and then one shot them afterwards, so they don't have time to wreak havoc when they're red. But it's a bit ♥♥♥♥ that you need to play the game so far just to hit this insane difficulty wall compared to anything before that. I'd say hit his tentacles with the nerfbat. Other than that he's okay-ish.

OK I FOUGHT THIS ♥♥♥♥ THE FOR THE FIRST TIME AND HOW DO U USE MELEE WEAPONS TO KILL IT?
I actually relied solely on my 2 grenades and after 15/20 minutes i got it at 4/5th of his full hp. The tentacles arent really that bad, the hitbox and speed it runs away / toward you is mad

A little sidestep when the "!" pop, and the tentacle is right in front of you, ready to be killed. It's easier if you lower the health of all the tentacles.

Remember their animations gets faster, and that's about it. A pointless phase.
Nishven 2017년 9월 20일 오전 1시 30분
Faster animations means less time to hit, resulting in longer to kill tentacles.
Lowering their health when they are still blue negate their purple/red animation: they will die in one or two hits.

I'm not even saying that's the only way to go: i've killed him may times by pure brute force (i get hit ? whatever, i'll hit back and regain 90% of my health). But it's easy to do, and it works quite well.
