Controller not detected
Hello, I've tried many suggestions to fix the issue of my controller not being detected, but nothing seems to make it work. I'm using a PS5 controller, i've tried using big picture, disabling steam input, launching the game through Admin, validating the files and re-launching the game many times. I don't really want to install a mod for controllers for just this game. Weird that the game recommends a controller.

Not sure what to do regarding the issue. The game has amazing reviews, but I’ve seen many people with controller issues

I found the answer somewhere. You go to game's propeties > controller and disable steam input.
Now the game will detect the controller.

Already tried that with no luck.
I have the same problem, using MacOS + Playstation 4 controller, other controller supported games work just fine, steam has it recognized but Dead Cells has no response from it.

Seems the game works with controller through big picture, but I don't really want to launch that every time.

In my case Big Picture doesn't solve the problem - to make things funnier, my gamepad worked just fine in Dead Cells last November or so

I attempted the Big Picture suggestion to no avail. Controller support is still not working on macOS Ventura (13.2.1) I have been using a PS4 controller paired with my computer & have had no issues with most other Steam titles available on the mac platform.

This is very frustrating I've been a big fan of this game but it feels like they didn't test on every platform before releasing the DLC. It is disappointing that they are leaving some of their users feeling forgotten & unheard.

I think the game is too big for people to get a proper answer

I had issues but was able to fix it by disabling all the settings except for Generic in the Steam Steam Controller Config

Go to bluetooth settings -> click the "i" next to our controller -> game controller settings -> identify. After this it should work.

I had this issue and resolved it by going to game properties and enabling steam input under the controller tab (It was set to "Use default settings". Started working after that. I'm using a PS5 controller.

I was having the weird issue of my Steam Controller not being recognized by Dead Cells, but only at game launch; if I unplugged/re-plugged my controller from my PC after launching the game, my Steam Controller would then be recognized. Obviously, I was getting tired of doing this every time I booted up the game.

Luckily I found your post and went into Dead Cell's properties and set my controller options to "Enable Steam Input" instead of "Default". That seems to have fixed my issue.

The really weird thing is, I don't ever remember having this problem with the game before, and I've had Dead Cells since Early Access. I've been away from the game for a while...maybe some recent patch brought up this issue.
