Punishment Shield and Parry Stun
Hello all,

I wasn't sure if this was a bug or not, but I've noticed that when using the Punishment Shield and parrying, the enemy is not stunned (from what I've experienced, all other parry-capable shields will stun enemies on a parry - KO Shield obviously has a longer stun).

Just now I was in the Clock Tower with the Punishment shield, and parrying the dual-sword guys attacks (I guess they're called "Cannibals" on the wiki), they continued their combo afterwards. I was able to parry the 2nd and 3rd parts of the combo as well, but I feel like that I didn't have to when using other shields. Parrying the 1st swing was enough.

On the same run, I grabbed a Greed Shield while still in the Clock Tower and noticed that parrying the beginning of the combo did stun the Cannibal for a short time.

Does anyone know if this is intended behavior for the Punishment Shield? If so, it makes it a little less viable in my opinion compared to other shields. I haven't tried it against the Time Keeper or any other bosses. I recall being in the Castle last night with the Punishment Shield and noticing the same behavior.

This is in the Baguette update.

It's so intended that enemies must kill themselves with punishment and blood shields. So no stun in these cases.

That could explain it. I've used the blood shield recently but can't remember if it lacked the stun like the Punishment shield. I want to say that it still had the stun, but I'm not sure.

Lacking the short stun on parry in my opinion would make these shields a bit less effective vs enemies with multiple hit combos - ex. Time Keeper boss, Cannibals, Slashers, Lancers. Not saying these two shields should be changed - just my opinion on their usefulness.

Yeah, it is difficult to parry the whole attack combination of those, especially if there are other enemies nearby also hits you.

Blood shield does not have stun at parry, I felt it on my skin from Cannibal combo :)

Ok - weird thing. Just had a run with the Bloodthirsty Shield and it had the parry stun like all other shields. Was able to stop the combos of the Slasher, Pirate Captain, and Time Keeper. Dropped it before heading into the Castle but figure it would have worked on the Lancer's combos there.

So it seems like the Punishment shield is the only one without a parry stun? Still not sure if that's intended if all other parry-capable shields have the short parry-stun (w/ KO Shield having the extended parry stun).

I know it's a minor thing to keep going on about - just seems odd.

I also noticed that Punishment shield does not damage Shield Bearers on parry.
Without stun, it doesn't turn off their frontal immunity.

But it gives better practice at parrying than other shields, because you dont have to wait trough stun.
