On Mac, downgrade game to avoid crashing
I'm using Mac, and the game started to crash recently.
It's very likely caused by an update 2 days ago, so downgrading the game to a previous version helped, until the dev can bring up their timely patch

Reference: How to Downgrade Game Version

Solution

0. Keep your crashing version of Dead Cells. If you've uninstalled it, follow the above link instead, or just install it again if you don't want drama.

1. Open steam console: close Steam, open Terminal, execute this command:

2. In the CONSOLE tab, run this command:
download_depot 588650 588652 3002672521023171282

3. Wait for download to complete, after which console will prompt download location

4. Overwrite game files with downloaded version (don't delete your save files)

Game files path:
/Users/<YOUR USERNAME>/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Dead Cells
("⌘⇧." to show hidden directories, google if you still don't know how to access your Library)

Download path:
/Users/<YOUR USERNAME>/Library/Application Support/Steam/Steam.AppBundle/Steam/Contents/MacOS/steamapps/content/app_588650/depot_588652
