Can we just agree on the point of explorer rune being useless?
So, as I am coursing through runs on my own or watch DocFirebird's streams, I can't help myself but see and feel that the new rune is flat out useless. There is no middle about it, it is not helpfull. The amount of map required to be already open for it to proc renders it's effect insignificant. As I am writing this down, I just had it proc on the first biome while I was heading to the second exit from it. All it did is literally showed My exit when I was 1 roll away from it and the Hunter's Grenade room, door to which I glimpsed at while passing by, and the interior is of no significance since it's content is always the same.
In short linear locations such as Prison Depths and new added Corrupted Quarry, same thing happens, it will just open like 2-3 dodge roll amount of distance in the only corridor You can possibly go to, thus it grants you 0 help. Compared to all other runes, each of them being a major game changer, the explorer rune feels like it was an idea thrown in as a measure for this update to stand up to it's claim of "adressing run duration to make it's average lenght reasonable", and, obviously, miserably failed at it.

It seems kind of silly to implement an upgrade for revealing the entire map, when there already was one in the game before: Forgotten Map I. An item added two updates prior that could’ve just as easily been put into biomes locked behind a pricey gold door, or perhaps as a percentage chance drop from a Cursed Chest.

In my opinion, this update in general feels like a bunch of unnecessary items that don’t really change the game in any meaningful way, and only serve to replace what could already be done beforehand with existing content. In addition to the Explorer’s Rune, I don’t see the point of having scroll fragments when you could just as easily add another dual / triple scroll here and there, and maybe have bosses drop a Scroll or Power.

Heck, add some extra secret areas and hide some of them in there. That way you have to actually comb through the levels carefully with a keen eye, in order to get every stat possible. There are already room layouts that could be used for that.
I suppose a way to make it a bit more useful would be to give it a chance upon entering a level to either reveal the full map or a few bits of it here and there but as it is now it is indeed rather useless.

I feel that it could just show you where the exit is, but that would be useless on stages like ramparts and stilt village
