Cursed Sword in Backpack?

This answer's probably obvious, but if I keep the cursed sword in my backpack, rather than in one of my active slots, will it still give me the cursed one-shot kill status?

Agreed. I was just hoping to cheat it and put it in my backpack, then use Porcupack, lmao. But yeah, if I ever get one, I just try to have a little fun with it.
