I have upgraded the gold pouch but

I am supposed to start the game with 1000 gold now but it varies, last run it was 165, this time it was 714. Does the upgrade mean you start with a random about between 0 and 1000? If so I wish I had spent the cells on something else

Oh derp, I get it now. It lets me KEEP up to 1000 gold I die with, not starts me with 1000 gold.

ok, so if you have 10000, you only get 1000, but if you only have 300 when you die, that will be the maximum. you won't get all you saved, but if it is not enough, the game doesn't give you anything. it is explained in the game though afaik.

yeah, tbh, it is pretty low. it changed A LOT over the years. you could start runs with a ton of gold. one of the things they changed. but a good one. but then they constantly reduced it to the 2500 we have now.
