Wish Return to Castlevania was a standalone campaign.
Really was hyped for this and while I do understand why they chose to integrate it into the main game, but was really hoping it was a standalone experience. Tell me why I'm wrong to get me hyped on it again.

When you enter the area it almost feels like it's own game, many noteworthy characters in the base game is replaced with Castlevania characters from previous games.

Yeah but dying and having to scour the sewers again breaks immersion. I get it though, then you can use the spoils from the castlevania section througout the rest of the run if you want. It's still awesome.

you can do some runs from prison. you can also just skip sewers and take a different route...
i don't mind the integration, since it fits well.

Same, for some reason I assumed that it's going to be standalone. It's not too well integrated into the main game for now, hopefully the patches will fix the rough edges.

Wait what are you talking about? The path leading to castlevania has always been in the same first area for me each time, unless your saying you lack an certain item to get to that spot then yeah its random generated so you might need a mechanic to progress, at this point it goes hand and hand with dead cells.

hu? what is rough about it? the way you access the 2 different castles won't really change. it's been like this for a while.

Yeah, I've played enough Dead Cells across multiple platforms that I don't want to have to spend any minutes in the sewer before entering the DLC content. I love the game but TBH I'm tired of the main game and wished this was a standalone experience that was simply disconnected from it. I'm expressing that I had wished the loop was self contained in the CV section.

But it is though? am I missing something here? The stairs leading to Castlevania are always in the first area, unless your talking about the other section, to fight dracula I mean and yeah that requires you progress through the main game. But you still have access to the castlevania area in the first part of the game....unless its different for people just starting off? I have up to the giants completed so maybe its different for other people?
Tryyton Mar 13, 2023 @ 1:21pm
dracula's castle with him is only accessible through late game, that's what he meant. some also have a problem with the 2 different exists and don't like it. but well, dracula's castle is late-game content and you would have a hard time if that would be from prison.

i never expected this to be in any way excluded from the base game. it was pretty clear it will be part of the whole game.

That would be a pretty short campaign, I think it works as a bite sized taste of Castelvania for what it is.

I wouldn't mind these devs working on a new standalone Castlevania game though.
Tryyton Mar 13, 2023 @ 3:18pm
who knows... i think Konami knew Motion Twin can pull this off. so maybe they consider something like a full game or maybe remaster of the older ones. i wouldn't mind. MT knows their ♥♥♥♥. :wink_eol:

Well I hope Konami would allow them to make a full fledged Castlevania game we haven't seen a single 2D game in the series that was any good since Order of Ecclesia in 2008. Konami doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about making games any more they make enough money with their Pachinko machines.

But I assume if they felt that the Dead Cells Devs could do a good job they might allow it.
Tryyton Mar 16, 2023 @ 6:29am
when they did to Kojima what they did... they lost a lot of respect. seems it is better for them to make pachinko machines.
maybe this was a way for them to test the waters to see if MT can pull it off.

Since no one else said it yet, it doesn't matter what you want. The game is what it is, take it or leave it. If you want just castlevania, go play castlevania. Simple.
themazingness Mar 18, 2023 @ 6:16pm
Personally, I'd like options. I would like the option to start in Castlevania and play it through, or start in the standard spot and play it as part of the base game.

I don't see anything wrong with the current setup personally. It's a game design choice. But this would be a nice QoL option to have.
