Brutality - Hit hard, hit fast, and get up close and personal. Most melee weapons are brutality or mixed-brutality.
Survival - Stay alive, then hit like a truck. All shields are (mixed-)survival, and the tools it has are defensive, and/or slow and strong.
Tactics - Control the battlefield and keep your distance. All ranged weapons are (mixed-)tactics, and it's tools controls crowds and create turrets and traps.
When playing, you pick one to go all-in on, and then when you get a scroll that doesn't have that one, you balance the other two to get the most possible health. As for which one you pick, just whatever you feel like basically. They are all good in their own way.
