There are a few just for doing specific things or unlocking specific options. Other reliable blueprints are the boss blueprints. If they don't have any gear blueprints to mutations to drop, then they will drop their skins.
Most important is that most skins from enemies require boss cells to be active. Also, each boss has one outfit per cell level 0-4. They will drop the lowest outfit that you have not received if you are playing with enough cells active.
No outfits from conjunctivius and playing on 2 cells will give you the 0 cell outfit first. Then 1 cell the next time you beat it, and 2 cell outfit the next time as long as you keep winning on 2 cells.
Just to cover everything, you can not get outfits from a higher cell level than you are playing on. Have to have the cells active to get the higher outfits.
Still, if you have noticed all those extra doors with small cell markings on them, if you have enough boss cells active (the number of cells matching the marks on the door or more) then you can open those doors. Most of them have extra loot in them but some are extra shortcuts to other levels.
With boss cells active, you earn more cells so it starts to become very useful when you can handle the tougher enemies.
