Srsly when is this game going to get a final update?
Is this game going to update forever (except DLCs and bug fixes) or if there's an end?

I just want to play it as it is, no more changes. So that all speed-runs, achievements, muscle memory and routes can be consistent. And I can play a thousand times or 2 to 100% everything.

The only thing that stops me from coming back (and buy the DLCs) to this game are the updates.

Is it really just me? I think it will be better to just leave the game alone and maybe focus on a new project or just do something else. It's not an MMO or FPS or MOBA etc, neither it is in early access. Is it really worth it for constantly updating the game?

People usually complain about lack of updates, but there're still those who don't want any updates lmao

From the Break the Bank update post, they want to have at least another year of content.

This isn't a live service game. It isn't designed to milk money from your wallet. It's an indie game with devs that want to add more content because they love the game. Adding new biomes, weapons, and bosses are a great way to get more mileage from a great game.

IMO, it's just you, because you can always come back to a game for new content. Especially if it's a game you enjoy playing.

I kind of get it. I'm not quite there yet with Dead Cells, but it's certainly getting there and I've experienced similar things with other games. Sometimes developers really do patch what's already a masterpiece to death or try to endlessly drag people back to a game that has long passed its prime. Sometimes it's better to stop updates and leave people with fond memories rather than update until absolutely everyone is annoyed with one change or another.
It's getting more common sadly, with the Early Access mindset. That's certainly a problem Dead Cells has, that the developers treat it like it's still in Early Access where you can (and should) try out different mechanics and approaches to balance. In a finished game you'd expect at least core mechanics to stay consistent (malaise rework and weapon/stat rework - I'm looking at you).

To view it as a major issue you really have to be a completionist though (which very few people are). If you don't care about achievements you can just opt into a beta and stay on your favorite version forever.
I've sometimes been annoyed that 5+ year old games suddenly push stupid updates with new achievements and you "have to" go back and play a game you've already moved on from to get those 100% back. I appreciate post-release support, but at some point you should just let a game rest in peace and move on to a different project.
Maybe I'm just old-fashioned. I like games to have a release version and then maybe 1 or 2 big updates, instead of a patch every 3 months in perpetuity as some kind of "game as a service" business model.

Just you, I think. It's not like they overhaul every single item in every update. Updates are seldom about balancing anymore since the WTD update. Everything is in pretty perfect order. And the changes that do occur really aren't that drastic? I don't really understand your concern? If it's because you don't think this is a great game and you're just a "look at me! I 100% stuff!" achievement hunter then maybe this isn't the best game for you? But if you recognize it's a great game then how can there ever be too much of a good thing? No one's stopping you from running the same route with the same build/loadout every time, if that's what you want?

Good timing, posting that just hours before they announced a new patch with 20+ items rebalanced and a whole mechanic completely overhauled

Umm, isn't every major update covered by the branches? Why not just play the version you want and let the rest of us keep coming back to some variation and new toys.
