Not a fan of the new YOLO mutation
I play on Xbox, we only recently got the 1.1 update and I just started to play again. While I like it better than the old version in most respects (custom mode is awesome) I am really NOT a fan of the new stipulation on the YOLO mutation that says you can't drop it once it's equipped. Maybe I would be okay with this if you weren't forced to take it after the first level, but it's honestly just kind of lame. I get it was done to add some downside to using it, otherwise it was OP, but forcing me to go 1 mutation short after it's used just feels like lazy design. Why not have some other drawback that's more present and less damning end game? Something like you earn less cells or money or something. Maybe it reduces your health by X% when equipped. But the way it is now it feels more like a hinderance than something that can benefit you.

Also I'd like to point out that most players aren't gods at the game that can play on 4BC with Cursed Sword and never take a hit. Some of us want a reasonable chance to beat the game on lower difficulties. The game is already punishing enough with how hard it is, why make it even harder for the average player?

It is ♥♥♥♥ now. Was a good mutation until update 1.0 tho.

If it's a problem for you just don't choose it. What;s the big deal? It's minor disadvantage compared to loosing like 2h of time, loads of cells and starting the run again,

If you could reset mutations along with YOLO before 1,0, it was ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up design then, LOL. Doesn't make any sense. This is your 2nd chance and you say "♥♥♥♥ it" -if so, click restart run in the menu after first death ;D

Great advice unfortunately not everyone is so amazing at the game they never die. This game is insanely hard, do they really need to make even harder with the 1 thing that gives you some sort of leniency? Like I said I'm all for adding a downside, just not one that screws you out of a mutation late game.

Believe me, not long time ago I was sure this game is impossible to finish even on 0BC, then i started 1BC Mode and my reaction was - WTF :O, and now I'm struggling with HotK on 1BC, so - patience and determination is a key.

I mean I think You don't talk about BC4-5 modes, and I'm sure You can see progress with every run - spend cells on new stuff/upgrades or a chance of + weapon drop...

And try custom mode - block few weapons which You don't like - but NOT starting gear, otherwise you block achievements, and gameplay will be much better and smoother for you. For Knife throwers use Humunculus Rune. You see, with every run you will be better and better.

DON'T BE SCARED OF THE GAME BUT ALSO DON'T TRY TO BE A F*** MASTER IF YOU'RE NOT.

I'm on 2BC since before 1.1. I stopped playing for a while because the game got annoying when you got crappy gear/rolls. Now I play custom with just torch, alchemic carbine, and double power nade. It works really well. But that doesn't change my problem with YOLO. If I equip it (which I'm forced to do after the first level or I can never use it) then I'm stuck with it forever. Maybe MAYBE if they made it so I can equip it at any point I wouldn't have an issue but I'm basically put in a position where I have to take it early and forgo better mutations at the start of the game. And with the way the hitboxes on some attacks work, plus the lack of I-frames after getting hit, sometimes I can make it all the way to the Castle without dying, and other times I basically get screwed by some random BS in the second level and now my whole run is ruined. If I could take it off, even at a higher cost than normal mutation reset, I would to salvage the run. But if you die any time before the Castle the run is screwed because I can't replace the mutation with something else. It's like I might have well have died where it was.

Also I want to say that traps do WAY too much damage, especially when the jumps are so tight and some spots can screw you over if you accidentally grab the edge instead of land on the floor. This contributes to my issue with YOLO but I wouldn't be bothered by it so much if YOLO wasn't a permanent equip.

With YOLO on you, you basically get a second chance where you should have died and restart from scratch, there is 1 downside, it stays after being used, if you need 3 very specific mutations to be comfortable to finish the game than the solution is easy, don't pick yolo in the first place and/or reset your mutation before using YOLO.

also, disengagement ?

Yea what I'm saying is the downside negates the benefit of using it, since it's only worth using if it can last until the Castle and you are forced to take it after the first level. If it's used anytime before then you might as well just restart the run. IE. "Here is this mutation that saves you if you die, but you have to not die until the end of the game for it to be useful."

As for disengagement it doesn't change the fact YOLO is a worthless mutation now.

The mutation allows you to cheat death once, it's useful because you know that if you mess something up you have a BIG back up plan that saves you, stun + freeze everything for 3 seconds (I think) which allow you to 1) heal and fight back 2) run away.

The mutation is useful don't blame it to be useless if you are . . . you know exactly what I mean but I won't say it (start with a B and end with a D).

Know the attack's pattern of each enemy and boss and you'll see you won't even need YOLO anymore.

Actually don't mind what I'm saying, You have your opinion, I have mine, who knows who is right ?

It was useful before patch 1.1 when it was removed after the effect was used. Not being able to swap it later is just stupid.
