Are shield stats a passive?
I don't understand, shield stats say stuff like "poisons the enemy", I assume when you parry him?
But then it says "critical hits +20 damage" or "victims burn when they die" so that's a passive right?
And what about +182% damage as the first stat? What does that mean? All your base damage has that modifier applied?

They aren't passive, shields have various effects that are applied when you block or parry (shield can crit too).

As for the +% dmg, it is related to your best stat (that you up +15% with scrolls you pick up). Each of 3 stats have a color and each weapon has a color too, making its damage depending on the corresponding stat (so take eqquipement of the same color and boost that stat only).

Hope it's clear enough

Pretty clear yes, I still don't understand the "+20% crit damage", how does that apply to a shield if it's not a passive?

Shields usually do damage when they block (look in the first line). Parries deal critical damage.

As for the +xxx%dmg - thats the result of the item level (roman numerals, and a "+", "++" or "S" upgrade.) making the dmg this item does bigger. If it doesnt deal dmg, it gives you damage reduction instead.

I suggest reading the wiki entry about mechanics and gear to understand a lot of fundamental basics the game has.
